This blog is in response to someone who is young and naïve, someone who came to me and said, “I want to teach at your Learning Center.” She wants to teach others how to live a prosperous, happy life … yet, she does not experience much happiness and is behind on her rent.
Make an aim to see and then to BE … and then you can aspire to help others where you’ve succeeded BEING. This is my philosophy when it comes to teaching.
The best way I can help this young woman, who came to me asking to teach at the Learning Center, is to help her destroy what is harmful. The misconception that she can teach what she has never experienced is harmful. It is harmful to her and to those who listen to her. The harm done is failure masquerading as success, hoping that will turn a dark night into a bright day.
Misconceptions supply the illusion of being qualified when one is not. What would qualify a person to open a Learning Center and offer classes on how to succeed in life? What qualifies me?
(1) I have made many mistakes on my journey from a small, impoverished mill town to a large state university to a big city where I taught school for seventeen years and then quit to become a millionaire in real estate.
(2) I made even more mistakes when I decided to expand my real estate domain from the East coast to the West coast, and then decided to become a restaurateur.
One of the big mistakes I made on this journey was that I often succumbed to the wrong attitude and mood many times during crucial decision-making moments.
Had I not learned from my many mistakes in high school, my poor attitude, and my many moods, I’d not have successfully been the first person in my family ever to attend a college (coincidentally, I worked my way through college, paying for tuition, books, meals and lodging all by myself – was that a coincidence?)
Had I not learned from the many mistakes I made in college, I’d not have successfully moved from a country college campus to the big city of Boston by myself, found an apartment, and eventually got a job teaching. (I’d never been in any city before, had sixty dollars in my pocket when I moved to the city, no contacts in the city, and no job promise when I got to the city).
Had I not learned from my mistakes while teaching, I’d not have successfully quit a cushy teaching job with tenure, leaving my retirement plan and great health plan behind so I could make millions of dollars in real estate.
Had I not learned from my mistakes, when I plunged into the deep end of the real estate pool (by deciding to become a real estate developer before I’d barely got my feet wet), I’d not have successfully opened three restaurants in the best locations of Boston on a simple desire to do so.
It is the massive action I have taken and the hard-earned lessons I learned from my thousands of mistakes that qualify me to start a business called Mind Adventure Inc. and open a Learning Center where I will offer concepts of prosperity, harmony in human relations, and life-success in every domain of living.
Along with the philosophical concepts, I will offer methods and means of using the concepts in one’s daily affairs so one can accomplish the secret dreams that have faded into the background of one’s mind.
I am a pragmatic philosopher. I am a philosopher in a perfectly practical way. Every one of us is a rich and majestic child of infinite intelligence. Yet, this means absolutely nothing if you do not know how to apply it to your life. I do know how to apply it. I will show you when you take classes at the Learning Center.
When you fail at anything in life – there are steps to take: (1) look for the cause (2) find the lesson being offered (3) correct your mistakes so the same failure doesn’t happen again.
When we live our lives, failing again and again, it’s because history inevitably repeats itself if we don’t inventory our past mistakes and work to correct … not protect. (Correct the mistakes, not protect our delicate egos by coming up with a thousand reasons why we failed).
I have offered some valuable lessons in this blog. It may sound like I am just talking about me. I am talking about you. How have you had breakthroughs? What real and comfy world did you leave to travel into the unknown so that you may recreate yourself anew? That’s what I mean by a breakthrough.
What are you really qualified to teach? Where have you walked through the human jungle and proven yourself king of the beasts, therefore qualifying you to help others? In what areas of your life are you really strong?
Blessings to you, please leave a comment of any nature … it always adds to the depth of the blog.
Thank you & blessings.
