Your True Identity

Your True Identity

The full realization of your unlimited potential does not burst upon you all at once. The truth of your unlimitedness is always available, AND it’s the challenges of life that offer opportunities to experience it.

Your true identity:
You are a being with unlimited unrealized potential and incredible hidden talents.
You are a being with unlimited unrealized potential and incredible hidden talents.
You are a being with unlimited unrealized potential and incredible hidden talents.

YES, I meant to say the above three times. I want you to absorb it.

Did you know that your true desires and their accomplishments are one and the same? Once you clearly picture what you want, you’ve accomplished it in your inner world of thoughts and feelings. It has been born in your heart.

When a desire is born in your heart, it is simply waiting for your cooperation to take shape in your outer world of function and form. It does not take decades to accomplish your meaningful aims and aspirations. It can take a couple of years, a few months, a few weeks, depending upon your attitude and mood about the matter.

How hard will you make it for your heartfelt desires to take shape in your physical world? How much extra work and struggle will you insist going through before saying, “Okay, go ahead and manifest for me.” … Or … will you make it a life time project, and never let it manifest? Hmmm

Student: Do you mean, “if it is to be, it is up to me?”
Teacher: Precisely!

By your nervous fears and anxious seeking to attain your aspirations, you use your own power to stop your dreams from manifesting. You understand, of course, that the Interactive Force of Harmonious Attraction will always bring to you the right and perfect obstacle, if that is what you request? This mighty force, which is always in action, never makes decisions for you.

You cover ‘right action’ with a cloud of darkness when you insist that you have to ‘put your nose to the grindstone’ in order to achieve your dream. You think you have to metamorphose your unlimited self through superhuman determination. Please! This is insanity.

All of your incredible talents and unrealized potential is yours right now. It always has been yours, and always will be yours. When you allow a ‘great richness of enthusiasm for yourself’ to naturally blossom – your inspiring visions grow vigorously in your consciousness.

Student: What happens next?
Teacher: You are taken over by a Wonderful Obsession!

When you are Wonderfully Obsessed, your inspiring visions spring from your mind to your feet, and you find yourself walking your talk with the right and perfect step.

Many earnest self-help students want to believe what is written here. They’ve gotten their surface mind to memorize this information. Yet, so few get the submerged part of their mind (where their true power lies) to accept it. Until such a time that their submerged mind accepts it, they are trapped … caught in a circle of cause and effect, confused by their mad whirlwind of activity.

What to do?

Here are a few quick steps for you:

(1) Step out of that whirlwind by interrupting those mechanical thoughts that say, “NO!”

(2) Become suspicious of all NO’s that dampen your encouraging spirit.

(3) Become conscious of what you are doing in the moment. Do not get lost in useless activity.

(4) Speak to yourself aloud, with a sincere tone of voice, “If it is to be, it is up to me.” … now sing it … now decree it like a powerful king!

These simple steps put you back to seeing the truth, not thinking about some positive affirmation you’ve memorized … which allows you to re-take your miss-takes in a productive manner.

Authentic sincerity is an incredible power. You have it. If you didn’t have it, you wouldn’t be reading my weekly posts. You are well on your way. You will soon see results from your sincere efforts.

AGAIN …. might I remind you …. your true identity:
You are a being with unlimited unrealized potential and incredible hidden talents.
You are a being with unlimited unrealized potential and incredible hidden talents.
You are a being with unlimited unrealized potential and incredible hidden talents.

Please leave a response. What does this post have to do with you? What tip can you add to help others understand this post better? How do you feel, after reading this?

Thank you, and blessings

  1. “If it is to be, it is up to me.”

You hit the nail on the head with that one. Many people don’t realize that in order to make something happen, we actually have to take ACTION. It’s not enough to put it on a dream board/life list and then hope it just magically appears. We have to take steps – baby steps, even – to get what we want. And we absolutely do have the power to do anything we put our minds to.

    Thank you for the reminder.

    • rob says:

hi Lindsay. Chains of hesitation and procrastination can be broken by the simplest action – you are so right about that. Insight into effective action can end a thousand fears and tension. Thank you for bringing this up. blessings

  2. David W. says:

Today is my last day at work. Tomorrow I consider myself retired. Man it is frightening today though. I mean, stepping into the unknown like this has me a bit emotionally stirred up today.

But I know I’m doing the right thing. I know I’m pursuing my true identity. It’s just a lot to take on. But it feels right.

    • pea says:

…plus, apart from your family and friends you have us, the online motley crew willing you the best in the background.

    • rob says:

Hi David. All fears are caused by psychic hypnosis, and all challenges are overcome by self-awakening. I remind you to awaken to the fact that you are worthy of all that is good and beautiful, David. Good and beautiful is what is waiting for you!
      blessings

  3. John Sherry says:

Agreed Rob. We are potential ready to be unleashed, the very sparks of the Universe in human form, the spirit of humanity ready to come forth, and every idea and possibility waiting to be recognised and given birth to. WE are the very Gods we pay homage to.

    • rob says:

Hi John. ‘We are ready to be unleashed’. NICE. Higher facts like this are confusing to our conditioned nature. Nice wake up call! thank you.

  4. pea says:

More! More! Ultimately, if we really spend enough contemplative time with ourselves we already know this. But it is still good to hear it and see it to remind us again and again.
You know I love your lines Rob, “Authentic sincerity is an incredible power.”

“When a desire is born in your heart, it is simply waiting for your cooperation to take shape in your outer world of function and form.” Home time. What more need be said?

    • rob says:

Hi pea. you read with an eye for noticing what may stir your sould. I like that. One of our jobs (as evolving beings) is to distinguish between healthy facts and popular sayings. You do this well. thank you.

  5. Brian Driggs says:

“Best Comment of the Week?” Wow! Thanks, Rob!

What I find most amazing about this journey is how the positive thoughts (thinking), when reinforced with even the smallest action (doing), become as all-consuming as their negative counterparts. It is easy to let negativity and pessimism build and spiral into a tornado of self-doubt, but whereas the negative wind destroys everything in its path, a whirlwind of positivity and optimism is wind in our sails, zig-zagging us to the next life lesson.

(Yeah. It’s Day Two at the Driggs house.) :D

    • rob says:

Hi Brian. ‘Letting negativity spiral into a tornado’ has become the news media favorite thing to do these days. There is always the enriching truth for the sincere seekers, but none for the melodrama addicts (which I used to be). Blessings

  6. Grady Pruitt says:

I have to agree with Lindsay, I like that line “If it’s to be, it’s up to me!”

I have had a couple of sites up for some time, but I have not done much work with them. About a month ago, I realized that I wasn’t putting enough effort into it (well, I noticed it much before that), so I began taking action towards building my site and getting traffic to it. Even with that, it as still another couple of weeks before I began taking consistent, daily action in an organized format. And in that short time since, I’ve seen more movement on my site than I had seen in the previous year it had been up.

I really liked this post, and I look forward to reading more. Thanks for sharing!

    • rob says:

hi Grady. I like how you brought a real life situation to this blog, and reinforced the message in the blog with it. Student: “How can I change my life for the better?” Teacher: “Make a personal effort to abandon your old habits.” That’s what you had to do to get your website moving. NICE. blessings

  7. Kara says:

Hey Rob, I don’t want my dreams and aspirations to take forever. This is where I get hung up. I try to be patient but am really incredibly impatient. Especially when I get fed up with my roommates and boring job. I don’t really know what to do to speed things up. I know exactly what I want and am so in touch with my True Self, but the waiting for it all to happen kind of stinks! I’m so sick of affirmations. I feel like I just want to run out the door and DO IT but I have to get the other pieces of the puzzle before I can just quit my job and move on to NYC! :)

    • rob says:

Hi Kara. Classical spiritual exercises are meant to interrupt your usual thoughts. As you become conscious of your usual thoughts, you interrupt them easily. This is a classical spiritual exercise, Before you know it, all the answers come to you that take you to New York! blessings

  8. Patricia says:

These are the words I have the most trouble believing. I must think it is a life time project…because I can see so many distractions in my living: children, house, finances, work, effort, my mother’s list and father’s expectation.
a Healer I had being going to see, told me one day that the healing only takes a second or two….and when on the way home from that appointment all the pain kept pouring into my knee…all I could think is that I truly don’t understand or have enough belief or faith…
I am drawn back to those feelings as I read your words here – I would like a bit of “instant” in my life…because I certainly do the work…hours and hours of work…
must have the wrong beliefs and deceptive messaging going on here. I seem to understand this better when I read what Melody says on deliberately receiving, yet after a year I am still not losing weight…still measuring food and writing down everything – it is becoming torturous and definitely tedious…no income

Fatalism? Destiny? My journey in life is healing from pain? hmmm?

    • rob says:

      Hi Patricia.

Please read this slowly and with all of your heartfelt attention:

Do you want your life to unfold as you secretly yearn it can? It is really quite easy.

You will allow the unfoldment to happen when you:

      (1) understand it will never happen when you fight for it to happen

      (2) accept that easiness comes when beliefs of ‘paying your dues’ goes

(30 you allow a fresh and pure ‘spiritual coming’ to occur within (but it must come from a new source than what your rational mind can offer).

      Please read this again.

      blessings

      • Patricia says:

I have copied off your reply and read it many times….yes I agree, working at it is not working…so I am spending 4 hours a day doing the miracle balls for pain relief (and it is working for the physical pain) and breathing, I am reading the Sufi Healing Book Walking with God…and knowing that weight has to come off my legs and arms before the pain will be relieved…that is working at it….
I keep sending out my resume
I keep working at getting Wise Ears up and running…and a life coach just called me out of the blue and gave me great ideas for moving forward. But it is still working at it for me…

I still feel like the little engine that could – stuck half way up the mountain and I don’t believe enough…cant get over the summit
I am trying to be still and listen..
I am a professional listener and I listen to myself quite well..
        Missing the call here ?

  9. Julie A Clear Sign says:

This is absolutely true but one of those things that you can’t understand until it actually begins to happen. I am personally just beginning to experience it, and though I’ve read it many times, I didn’t “know” it.

I sometimes wonder when it feels like a download, when it isn’t at all planned, where it comes from. Have some thoughts on that.

    • rob says:

Hi Julie. Your authentic essence speaks this to you: “each challenge I give you is a new opportunity, a second, a third, a fourth chance to join your consciousness with mine and let me exalt your mind to the vibration where the answers will be found.” We get so caught in our beliefs of lack and limit that we cannot remember this invitation. LOOSE AND EASY – that is how we get to where we want to be. Sometimes it is easy for me. Sometimes it’s like I never knew this clue. blessings

  10. Hi Rob,
    I love my “true identity!”

    • rob says:

Hi Angela. When nothing matters to you except serving your true identity, THOU WILL IS DONE (you are lifted off the wheel of cause and effect, and your felt-visions become physical manifestation effortlessly). Please read this a few more times and think of moments when you have proven this truth to yourself. blessings

  11. Stuart says:

Greetings Rob, what a wonderful post, and something that I’ve recently found to be true. Allow me to explain.

Earlier this week, I was suffering from a crisis of faith. I was made redundant about 3 weeks ago, but this week was the first time when I actually felt down about it. I didn’t feel ‘myself’, and I genuinely wondered whether I’d ever get back on my feet and either create that career for myself, or at the very least find a job to pay the bills in the short-run. I doubted my ability to even try.

But then I found inspiration. I felt that I had a choice – I could either continue to roll around and wallow in this sludge, or I could make the decision to make some changes in my thinking. I chose the latter, and began to visit my feelings, and my past, in order to find out where these feelings of inadequacy were coming from.

After sitting on the couch and reflecting/thinking for a good 30 minutes, I realised that, ever since I was very small, I’ve carried a feeling of irresponsibility with me. I felt that I could pass over my responsibility to others, particularly my parents, and not have to worry about making decisions. Because my parents encouraged this mindset with their own action, the mindset was reinforced, and I felt like it wasn’t my job to ‘worry’ and be responsible.

But here’s the thing – I’m now in a position where I HAVE to take responsibility, otherwise I’d crash and burn. And being forced into this responsibility meant that I felt insecure and unsure of myself. This was new ground for me, and I didn’t like it.

Then, now that I knew where the feelings were coming from, I realised something else – I can do whatever I set my mind to do. It’s all down to me. The reason I’ve been shirking responsibility is because I’ve felt like my parents could cover me, and I wouldn’t have to ‘put myself out there’. But now I have no other choice. I’m faced with reality now. And after I realised where my feelings had originated from, I felt liberated.

I feel freedom now, I feel like I CAN achieve anything I set my mind to, because it’s within my power to make it happen. No excuses now, no-one else to blame. It’s up to me, it’s down to me, and it’s me that will create the results I want to see and experience.

“You are a being with unlimited unrealized potential and incredible hidden talents.” – You’re damn right Rob. Damn right :-)

    • rob says:

      Hi Stuart.

You have poured your heart into your response to this blog. let me first take a moment to acknowledge and appreciate you for this … Thank you …

Now for this message to you, Stuart:

within the pattern of your being is contained ‘infinite originality and your freedom to express it’. But first you must show that you are willing to give up your earthly intelligence for infinite intelligence, and go purposefully about the business of proving to yourself that there is far more to you than you even realize in this moment.

When you look beyond the human selfhood that you have created (the personality that you designed to cope with your model of reality), then comes the feast of life’s incredible riches that you are here to experience and share with others.

Please do not assume you understand this message with one reading. You are ready to receive the truth, Stuart. You cannot receive it if you think you already have it.

      blessings.

  12. Carol Anne says:

Hi Rob, I’ve always identified my “True Identity” as being a “Mother” first and foremost. I think if you are going to bring children into this crazy world you have to be ready to take on a big responsibility. I’m proud to say I did, and think I did pretty darn well too! Now that the kids have moved on that part of me is still there but, I’m finding that my purpose is not so clear anymore. That can be quite scary. I’ve found other things that I am passionate about between my business and my friends, but nothing quite compared to the all consuming role as parent. I don’t want to be one of those Mother’s Mother’s who wait around for grandkids, so I am always seeking new adventures of travel and good old fun. I’m more buddah like these days, enjoying the moment as best I can, not so much striving to accomplish this or that.

    • rob says:

Hi Carol. you are taking thought for tomorrow as you give up your roles for today. WOW, what incredible surprises are awaiting you! Thank you for bringing your life to the blog site. Blessings

  13. Rob,

Your post today reminds me of my favorite songs, “Already Gone,” by the Eagles and these lines:

“So often times it happens that we live our lives in chains
And we never even know we have the key.”

When I begin to believe in my own self-limiting thoughts, I remember these lines and understand that I can set myself free whenever I choose.

    Alex

    • rob says:

Hi Alex. We are ‘the jailed ones’ … we are ‘the judges that jail ourselves’ … we are the jailers who hold the keys. Freeing ourselves from jail need not take a lot of effort. It only takes a long time when we are victims of deep seated habits. I can see that you can see this. you are now inserting the key in the lock so that you may set yourself free. blessings

  14. Lance says:

    Rob,
What really jumps out at me…the last three words of your repeated affirmation – “incredible hidden talents”. As I sit here this morning, I’m letting these three words, in particular, just soak in more deeply. MY hidden talents. I love that thought, and that there’s stuff there which IS incredible, I just have to open myself up to the possibility! I’m committing to do that, starting today – and be an active participant in new and exciting unfoldings!!

    Thanks Rob!!

    • rob says:

hi Lance. There is no need for me to condemn myself for being weak when I dwell on my incredible hidden talents. I need just remember that all things are possible to me when I love my opportunities to hone my talents and express my unlimitedness. This fact is seeping through your surface mind right now, deep into your subconscious, as you ponder what you are reading here, and asking, “What does this have to do with me?” Thank you

  15. Roger Pascal says:

My true identity is something I’ve been coming to terms with slowly but surely since we started working together. I think because I never knew that part of me existed it has taken a long time to even accept it is there. I’m quite grateful to even be aware of it. So many people (that used to be me) are unaware that such a thing even exists. They think life stinks and then you die… I used to be on the fast track to that end. For me a true identity means being a great father and finding the joy I get out of my work. It’s not exotic, but just being able to think of it as a “true identity” makes life so much more fulfilling and rewarding.

    • rob says:

Hi Roger. You are so much more loyal to yourself than when I first met you. The essential nucleus of your being is infinite with potential. As you continue accepting this fact, its wisdom and infinite intelligence will well up into your surface mind. Then you will know at last that there is no formidable barrier to keep you from expressing yourself in ways that attract all of the worldly riches you dream of experiencing. blessings.

  16. Rus says:

Hey brother man, I dig ya with this one: “Authentic sincerity is an incredible power.” That’s all there is to it. As long as I go through every day just being authentic I am accomplishing all my desires. And when I’m really in touch with my true identity all my desires are there for the taking. I’m not talking about finding a million dollars or the keys to a new Mercedes. Oh no. If we really are in touch with our desires what we are looking for is peace, ease and joy. I can find this anywhere at anytime of the day or night in the people that I meet or the wind in the trees. Life excites me when I wake up see 24 brand new hours to just be 100% Authentic. That’s my true ID, brother!

    • rob says:

Hi Rus. I love that you grabbed the line, ‘authentic sincerity is incredible power’. Stop loving the familiar conversations about sincerity, and simply be authentically sincere; what you do with that will even startle you. You know. You’ve experienced it. It gives you the courage to step out of the same circle you’ve been traveling, day in and day out. blessings

  17. Hi Rob,
As one advances in conscious awareness we begin to realize that the outer world is a mirror of our inner world. Once we learn how to be honest with ourselves and be honest with what we really want for ourselves, our life will begin to unfold as we had always wished it would.

    • rob says:

Hi Justin. Conscious awareness shines a new light on everything. How often do you experience it? I sometimes do. often I fall back to my mechanical ways; then I’m like a robot – very predictable. There is logic in what you say. If it ain’t logical, it ain’t applicable, and if it ain’t applicable to our lives, it ain’t worth talking about. Thank you.

      • Hi Rob,
I wish i could say that I am consciously aware all of the time but this isn’t true. I “go under” if you will when I am tired and or bored and especially when I am on the computer for long periods of time.

But I can make myself consciously aware for periods of time, but then like most I go back on automatic pilot, a type of semi-conscious state of being.

The cool thing is that we can learn to be aware of our not being aware.

  18. SaltySailorMan says:

Hi Robert, It is has been historically true in my life. When my heart gets filled with something I truly want I become one tenacious SOB. Marvelously Obsessed is the perfect way to put it. All my big life accomplishments were the direct result of just being consumed with that one thing. It all happens quick and easy when we are bound and determined. I think people are dissatisfied with life because they are never really clear on what it is they want. I feel for those people who just can’t seem to get it together. They set lofty aspirations that are not truly what they want to begin with. They want to be a movie star or have a mansion because they have never identified anything that is truly inline with “True Identity.” I’m fortunate to be so clear on my love for sailing, family and stimulating conversation. That is heaven on earth (or sea) for me.

    • rob says:

Hi Salty. “This is heaven on sea for me.” I love your originality. Do you walk on similar paths daily? “Nonsense,” said Salty, “I enjoy new routes every day.” That’s what I like about you, Salty. blessings

  19. J.D. Meier says:

    Beautiful topic.

I’m always amazed by how many people I know downplay their talent or don’t realize what they’ve got.

Then I think back, on why that’s so. For one thing, if we don’t have a label for our talent, it might be easy to fade away through lack of language. For another, it’s easy to overlook our talents, if they come to us too easy, or if they’ve always been there and we take them for granted.

Case in point … several years back a colleague challenged me to use my information modeling skills on the job more. At first I laughed, saying that it can’t be a skill because it comes easy to me. He said what was easy for me is tough or impossible for others. Then I said, that if it’s easy, it can’t be valued. He said, that I need to think of it a different way … the modelin talents I have are similar to analysts and architects, and that would be valued.

I’m the curious kind, and I’m a fan of testing possibilities so I told him I would use this skill a bit more at work and see how it goes. That’s the year I filed eight patents, and played a key role in shaping our product line for our group, as well as became the go-to person for solving complex information architecture issues.

So sometimes, our strengths are hidden in our blind spots.

That said, I’m also a fan of deliberate practice. There’s a beauty in growing the skills that come from a lifetime of passion, pain, and gain. A skilled violinist or sugeon comes to mind. It’s a beautiful thing to see an expert make their sould sing, as their work takes on an elegant form of self-expression.

Neither the easy path nor the hard path is the clear winner … I think the balcony view is getting “on path” and driving from who you want to be and the experiences you want to create.

    • rob says:

You opened your heart with this comment, J.D. A man was camping in the woods and went hiking on his own. He returned back to the camp later that evening, but his legs were scratched from bushes. When his wife asked what happened, he said< I accidentally walked off the trail in the dark." His wife responded, "Next time bring a flashlight." Can you see how you are learning to bring a flashlight with you J.D. (not only to work but when you go out to play)? Give this some thought. blessings

      • J.D. Meier says:

I don’t think the trick is knowing to bring a flashlight … it’s knowing what to shine the light on, but then again, I’ve always been a *why* kind of guy.

        • rob says:

Hi J.D. Bring the flashlight with you when you are in flow (which you often are). You will be shining your flashlight on what you successfully did, so you will be consciously competent of how you did it. Now, when someone asks, “how’d you do that?” you can share each step of the process. You’ve got a lot to share! blessings

  20. Hello Rob!!

You keep reminding me of this Rob and I’m going to be OK! ;) . Your quick steps are ultra helpful. I do believe there’s a lot let to be discovered of my talents and it’s funny, but this weekend revealed a few that I’m rather excited about.

To think that if we each used just the small amount of our capabilities, we’d undeniably change the world. We are complex individuals, yet we act very simply when it comes to handling something so raw with potential!

Great post and great reminder Rob … as always, abundant thanks with abundant kindness my friend!

    Elena

    • rob says:

Hi Elena. Yes, we are complex individuals. But when we remove all of the dallying conversations that is not natural to our inward self-talk, we become simply incredible creators (and there’s nothing complex about it). I say this better than I live it (sometimes I experience it). Thank you for sharing a slice of your life. blessings

  21. Sibyl says:

Really great post Rob and you are so right that the best thing we can do is realize our true potential. I love what you said about being suspicious of all No(s). I love that approach.

    • rob says:

Hi Sibyl. Becoming suspicious in the right way is very freeing. No matter how long we’ve been out of contact with the truth, the voice of truth is recognizable to anyone who listens energetically. We cannot listen energetically until we become suspicious of all useless self-talk that grabs our attention. Thank you.

  22. John says:

Hey Rob, I know I’m pretty talented and really passionate about my music. That is definitely my obsession and passion. I don’t think one can really approach creativity with a specific end in mind… like “I want to be on the cover of Rolling Stone.” That would mean their passion is to be famous rather than creative. I write and play everyday because it is in me and it has to come out. It’s a lifetime commitment if you are serious about what you are up to. A “true identity” can’t be conjured up at random because someone needs a hobby. I don’t think people should take this lightly, manifesting a condo in New York or a record deal isn’t really honoring a “true identity”. I get fed up with people who think that checking off specific goals is somehow fulfilling unrealized potential or whatever. I feel like I am living sincerely because I am revealing my “hidden talents” just a little bit every single day with a life long commitment to music.

    • rob says:

Hi john. Uncovering more and more of one’s hidden talents is a lifetime passion for all great artists. Make it a point of your life to uncover more of your talent, and you will live an incredibly exciting life. blessings.

  23. Dia says:

    Hi Rob,

I love this ” When a desire is born in your heart, it is simply waiting for your cooperation to take shape in your outer world of function and form” This is exactly what it is all about. If we get rid of the barriers that we ourselves set, and make peace with everything we want to achieve, then the rest will happen naturally. I love being “marvously obssessed” about my goals and desires. I personally have achieved great results Rob in all life domains except the money domain, but I can feel it Rob that I’m on the right path to become financially prosperous. As you said, it shouldn’t take decades. Thanks for the excellent post my friend and I miss your posts about money ;)

    • rob says:

hi Dia. thank you for sharing what’s really up with you. It is refreshing. all of my posts are about success of every nature (including making millions). I may not say ‘money’ but if one applies the lessons to ‘making money’ …. then money they will make! A willingness to abandon the old myth that money is scarce except for the few, makes room for the new. What’s new? Incredible ways to attract money into your life will come to you. blessings

  24. Galen Pearl says:

Your statement of identity reminds me of a passage in A Course in Miracles, which says something like, “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.” I’ve always loved that. There is much wisdom in your article. Thank you.

Hi Galen. Thank you for bringing up this particular quote. I, too, love this quote. Sometimes the truth can seem shocking, but it is always the best friend you can ever have. That quote is a dear friend, isn’t it. blessings

  25. Hi Ron,

How true it is that, “All of your incredible talents and unrealized potential is yours right now. It always has been yours, and always will be yours.”

We somehow trap ourselves, thinking we have to become a different person to have the dreams we seek for. When in reality it is inside of us the whole time.

Of course you always put it more eloquently than I do.

Thanks again for a top notch post.

    Bryce

    • rob says:

Hi Bryce. you speak from your heart. No one can communicate more elegantly that you when you speak this way. I love your communication skills. Never accept confusion as necessary when you are sharing from your heart, and confusion will be ended immediately. You’ve proven this with this comment. blessings

  26. Alan007 says:

Hey Rob, We’ve talked about this one before. When I did that seminar I told you my problem was I can’t find ONE thing I’m really excited and passionate about. I’m not there yet, but I have been more conscious about the things I do that are helping or hurting me. Even when I am doing things that are hurting me, at least I know that it’s not the True-Alan… remember Evil-Alan? haha. I bet a lot of people are like me. I think the biggest change in my life has just been becoming aware of those two Alan’s. I know I joke about wanting to get drunk and hook up. That’s all still lots of fun, but I used to think that was as good as it got. I now know there is more of true Alan that will shape up as long as stay aware.

    • rob says:

Hi Alan. The mistaken ideas that you hold about yourself … are not yourself. Do you remember going over those ideas in the seminar? Review your notes. You will get there! blessings

  27. Hi Rob,

Very inspirational post. I recently sat in on a talk on a similar topic, and we listed our negative thoughts, self doubts, etc. on the left and positive thoughts on the right. We then gave a percentage of time we spent allowing our negative thoughts to control our thinking. I realized quickly how much time can be spent thinking negatively. It is a focused effort to think positive thoughts about our abilities and be confident that we can accomplish our dreams. Anything is doable once we allow ourselves the freedom of allowing our positive thinking to come through.

    • rob says:

Hi Cathy. It is essential that we look at our negative thought-habit, in order to work on ridding them from our psychic system. That sounds like a great exercise you did. It is beauty in action when we realize that we don’t have to accept negative thoughts about our ‘selves’. You are advancing nicely. blessings

Hi Rob, this material has got my wheels turning a bit. Which is a good thing. I must be softening up in my dotage… ha ha. I would normally dismiss this as too new agey rah rah rah. I’ve never been a “self-help” student as you say, but I am seeing the universal principals that helped me get to where I am. I was always career and work focused. As you know my challenge has been coming to terms with my “spiritual” side my True True Identity is not my True Career Identity. It’s a tough transition and feels awkward most of the time… I compare it to feeling like an awkward teenager trying to talk to girls for the first time. I don’t know exactly what those hidden talents are yet by I am more and more enjoying discovering the possibilities. It has given me a renewed lust for life, a joie de vivre, if you will.

    • rob says:

Hi Georgie. I can tell by your blog that your mental wheels are turning. Your turning wheels give you a mental change in scenery. and you can anticipate a change in your nature to follow. Nice work. thank you

  29. Jk Allen says:

    This was wonderful Rob,

I realized a few things after reading this:

When I face challenges in life, after they’ve settled and no matter the outcome, good or bad, I always feel better equipped. I always feel as if I’ve grown as a person. From reading this I take it that those feelings are possibly me experiencing some of my unlimitedness.

And to learn that we’re presented with the right and perfect obstacles makes a lot of sense in the scheme of life. Challenges aren’t to crush us, they’re to strengthen us and to test if we really want what we’re after.
I always try to ask “what lesson is in this for me”. Sometimes I can’t figure that out until later down the road. It’s like discovering one puzzle piece, which makes the next puzzle piece easier to find. The more puzzle pieces that are fit into their proper position, the less difficult the puzzle gets as you progress.
    -
Become suspicious of all NO’s that dampen your encouraging spirit.
Whenever I’m presented with obstacles [of NO], and I get that uncomfortable feeling in my gut, I’ve been noticing that *I* create the bad feeling in my gut by accepting the NO. Overtly I say I don’t, but inwardly I know that I do. I don’t on purpose, I think it’s a part of the conditioning that I’ve lived under for all of my life. I feel as though this is a progression (to have some understanding). Once I make sense of the matter I’m dealing with (if sense can be made), I realize that there’s no need for me to feel hurt by the situation, but to just let the situation be. It is what it is and it is what it is for some reason, even if I can’t identify it just yet.
I guess for me it comes down to believing that no situation, good or bad, is a wasted one. There’s a purpose in everything, whether it be to teach me, strengthen me, or whatever it may be. It’s always easier for me to admit these things now, while not dealing with something difficult, than it is when I’m in the midst of one of life’s challenges.
    -
Thank you for this great piece of work Rob!

    • rob says:

hi Jk. If there is one lesson to impart upon your growing children, it is what you said, here: “Challenges are not to crush us, they are to strengthen us.” You live the truth when you accept your challenges with this in mind.

Everything is meaningless and purposeless until you assign it a meaning and purpose, Jk. There is no purpose to any of it until you decide there is. That is what makes you an incredible being! Ordinary psychology teaches adjustment and compromise. It will tell you that everything has an inherent purpose. Don’t buy it. You are an extraordinary being – you have elevated above ordinary psychology. THIS MESSAGE IS MEANT FOR YOU … don’t move on until you fully grok it. blessings

  30. Evelyn Lim says:

And so I repeated the statement three times…

I am a being with unlimited unrealized potential and incredible hidden talents.
I am a being with unlimited unrealized potential and incredible hidden talents.
I am a being with unlimited unrealized potential and incredible hidden talents.

Wow!! It’s quite a mouthful but it sure feels awesome. It’s really up to me to BE!!

    • rob says:

Hi Evelyn. How does extraordinary personal goodness arrive? It arrives by you simply using your mind correctly, which is what you did when you repeated the above statement several times. Thank you. I love your soaring spirit.

  31. Chris Barba says:

Another great one Rob – and I always LOVE your images.

I think when you are truly honest with yourself and what you want out of life you begin to form an idea of what you want. This is a huge step, but the next one is taking action, and I feel this is where many of us, myself included, get tripped up.

There will ALWAYS be a reason we come up with not to do something. We will always find something, to not take the risk. But in the experiences I’ve had, I’ve found it completely necessary to act in spite of the unknown. For that is what it is all about, living in the unknown is the only way we can do things we have never done before, otherwise we’d just be doing the same, known things we’ve been doing all along!

    Outstanding post Rob!

    • rob says:

Hi Chris. When we dare to live in the unknown, we no longer can afford to handle the truth carelessly. We must accept that we are marvelously made beings and destined to win. True victory belongs to the whole … you are whole when you think rightly of yourself. You are a triumphant victor! Good job. blessings

  32. Angry Ramone says:

The big word that jumped out at me was “cooperation.” I seem to have very little cooperation between whats in my heart and what taking shape in my life. Which explains why it seems to take me so long to achieve things that others seem to achieve easily. Like holding down a job or having a relationship with woman that is NOT psychotic. I am learning how to turn my passion and anger to a more positive mood. I enjoy getting fired up and demanding “If it is to be, it is up to me” stuff like that seems to work for me … I can still be passionate, but get my passion on the positive instead of negative side of things. That’s been my big challenge lately.

    • rob says:

Hi Ramone. COOPERATION … that’s a big one. Do not believe that your usual definition of the word ‘cooperation’ is the only definition. When you truly cooperate with life, you have nothing to be angry about (ever). blessings

  33. Alicia says:

Hi Rob, So uplifting. It’s amazing how quick we forget! I’m saying it all week:I am a being with unlimited unrealized potential and incredible hidden talents!! I used to work so hard at my spirituality with that “nose to the grindstone” mentality you talk about. But its really not supposed to be hard work. That’s what I have to remember. When I can let go of all my baggage and judgements and I truly feel that part of me. I’ve learned to take responsibility for my desires instead of denying them. I struggle mightily with money, mortgage and debt. Yes! I desire to live prosperously. When I deny this desire I get angry and judgmental at the whole world. How silly. Why should I think my True Identity wants me to walk around secretly bitter? That’s what I’ve learned about myself.

    • rob says:

Hi Alicia. Your true identity wants to free you from your usual way of seeing things. Your true identity does not want you to be a walking contradiction. it wants you to be wholly you (which is ‘holy you’). The person you want to be is your true identity, because then you will have no trouble living with yourself. In fact, you’ll love living with yourself. Blessings.

  34. Magic Marc says:

Yeah Son YEAHHH! True identity is all about just keeping shiz mad real. My tip to everyone is that it AINT THAT HARD – LET That SHIZ OUTTT!!!. People just gotta stop trying so hard and let it loose. Have a vodka and redbull for cris’sakes if you have to BUT stop going around all cramped up. NOthing gives me a bigger pain in balls than dealing with dudes who have NO IDEA what they are really about. I dont know why they even get out of bed in the morning!!! The thing about me is I don’t care what you do with your life….. As long as you are mad real we can get along. I’m always in the moment – nO wasted activity for this PLaYER. Even when I’m getting my clothes, shoes and hair styZIED up for maximum effect I’m just bringing out the best in me. I aint vain I’m just making sure my TRUE IDENTITY is busting out in the spotlight. Dont deny it WE aLL love the spotlight. TRUE IDS never want to be the wallflower YOU KNOW THATS FACT. Let me recap for all you stuffy-TURKEYS: DON’t THINK! JUST HANGG IT OUT IN THE BREEZY!! What do I gotta do to get BeSt comment up in this piece any way!!??? HAHAHHAHA. PEACE OUTTT ROBO!! :) :)

    • rob says:

Hi magic. Your true identity wants you to be successful in gainful ways. We cannot use worldly success as a means of progress if that success stops us from noticing the truth. You can’t paint the outside of your house and expect the kitchen to look different – can you? Thank you for your continued interest in the blogs. blessings

  35. Richard Roma says:

That’s good stuff Rob. I’ve learned there is a big difference between being successful with our True Identity and being successful to the world. I never felt more lost and phony when I was a “high roller.” I was a downright maniac. Had no idea who I was, really. A nice car, clothes etc makes the world think your successful. Living up to the true identity is much harder work, but I’m learning it’s the only work that matters.

    • rob says:

Hi Richard. Being a downright maniac increases painful activity. Understanding this, destroys painful negativities that compel downright maniacal behavior. ponder this. blessings

  36. TWICs, VI says:

[...] MindAdventure: Your True Identity (09.16.11) What I find most amazing about this journey is how the positive thoughts (thinking), when reinforced with even the smallest action (doing), become as all-consuming as their negative counterparts. It is easy to let negativity and pessimism build and spiral into a tornado of self-doubt, but whereas the negative wind destroys everything in its path, a whirlwind of positivity and optimism is wind in our sails, zig-zagging us to the next life lesson. [...]

    • rob says:

Hi TWIC. Your rewrite of what I was trying to say is excellent. Thank you for the clarity. Through awareness, which is very different from mechanical thinking, we are able to live in a world that we once knew was available (as a small child). You have glimpsed at that world, haven’t you? blessings.
