How to Rid Your Mind Permanently of Howling “NO’s”

A group of novice backpackers went camping in the woods for a weekend. They’d barely hunkered down in their tents the first night, when a pack of howling wolves entered the site and kept them up all night with their strange howls.

The backpackers didn’t know what to do; they had two more nights before returning to the city, and they already felt exhausted from lack of sleep.

Fortunately, a seasoned hiker came along; they told him about their circumstance, and he sold them a flare gun and a couple of flares. He taught them how to use it, and he advised them to shoot the flare into the air when the howling began.

That second night, the wolves returned and began howling. They took the seasoned hiker’s advice, shot a flare into the air, and indeed the wolves fled and the howling ceased. They got a great night sleep.

As mentioned on prior blogs, you hear echoes of the 60,000 NO’s that were spoken to you from age two to six. These howling NO’s creep into our mind, not only in the darkness of night, but also in the light of day. They can keep you up all night and cause nervous tendencies all day. No one escapes the howls of NO! … otherwise, we’d all be super-achievers like Leonardo da Vinci.

Fear of failure, fear of success, procrastination and excuse–making … all are a consequence of howling NO’s. This isn’t all dark news – a second look illuminates your mind. You have a flare gun and flares available to scare the wolves from howling at the door of your mind.

Chanting, “YES, YES, YES”, in reaction to NO’s … nope, that’s NOT a flare; this is why motivational speeches only motivate for the short term. If you are to rid your mind permanently of howling NO’s, you must learn to R.O.A.R effectively; this is the flare!

My little orange book will be out soon, offering fabulous advice: Recognize … Organize … Absorb … and Realize. This is the flare you are looking for!

Positive thinking alone does not work; it works no better than negative thinking. REAL thinking works; get real about it – you have a bad habit of pledging your obedience to past echoes of NO. If you didn’t have this habit, again I remind you that you would be expressing freely and winning in all domains of life (mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually, with family, friends, colleagues and even with strangers … and financially).

Admitting the truth about hampering NO’s (howling NO’s that hamper your progress) is a powerful first step. Dare’st you admit? Please share your thoughts on this matter. How have echoing NO’s of your past stopped you from creating your future as you’d love it to be?

The Key to Your Psychological Jail Cell

Whether you admit it or not, there are times when you feel trapped.

Student: What has me feel trapped?
Teacher: 60,000 No’s!

Many psychologists, therapist and psychiatrists agree that between age 2 (terrible 2’s) and age 6, the average child is bombarded with 60,000 NO’s (some are loving NO’s and many are harsh and ridiculing NO’s). The howls of childhood NO’s don’t disappear on their own.

Again, whether you admit it or not, sometimes, you feel trapped by NO; you say,
“I’m going to break my golf score; NO, that’s not possible!”
“I’m going to begin my own successful business; NO, don’t be foolish!”
“I’m going back to school and get my degree; NO, it’s too late for me!”

Many folks feel so trapped by NO’s that they feel like prisoners, condemned to inhabit a lonely jail cell. I hope you’re not one of those desperate souls? IT’S NOT NECESSARY!

Oftentimes, when the trapped individual finds a way to break free of his psychological jail cell of NO’s, he’s sighted by a prison guard who heaps a dozen NO’s on him, which quickly has him rush back to his psychological jail cell. This pattern of ‘escape and recapture’ can occur for a lifetime if we make the wrong friends, marry the wrong person, or never leave the ghetto conditions (psychological ghetto), in which we were born.

How do NO’s stop you from creating the life you dream of experiencing? What aspirations and aims have you filed away by putting off ‘til tomorrow (the morrow that never comes)?

Your great chance for escape from the howl of NO is full knowledge of the NO’s and of those who condemn, ridicule, harshly judge, and scold you when you say YES to life; this includes the World Voice – it howls deep into the night (just watch the evening news).

Facts:
(1) You are superior to the NO’s.
(2) You are far more intelligent than any naysayers who haunt you with “NO!”
(3) If you’ve been following the latest Mind Adventure blogs, you now have superior wisdom.

Soon I will release a little orange book that will teach you a powerful way to turn down the volume on howling NO’s (not just temporarily, but permanently). I call this process ‘The Four Vital Steps of R.O.A.R.’ … it allows a faithful higher force to act for you (this force is found right inside of YOU!). “May ‘The Force’ be with you!” … it is with you; it always has been with you; it will always be with you. You will learn how to close your mind to the Woesome NO’s, with their defeating attitudes and worrisome moods. The NO’s will never again stop you from creating the future you dream of living into.

Dare to declare to yourself, ‘I am climbing to new heights of living … I am taking a mind adventure beyond my present mental state … I am accepting the Principle of Progress as my natural state of being’. Blaise Pascal offers a refreshing tip: “A principle installed in a good mind brings forth fruit.”

Is Your Survival Instinct Destroying Your Future?

There is a common misunderstanding about the power of NO. It’s commonly believed that family members, friends and even strangers can cause us emotional harm and psychological stress when they shout, “NO!”

The truth is:
NO cannot harm.
Harsh tones of voice cannot cause emotional stress.
We harm ourselves through our wrong reactions to these NO’s.

You are exposed to 60,000 NO’s from age two (terrible two’s), to age 6. During these innocent and naïve years, you are conditioned to act and think as your community wants you to – the psychological whip is NO, NO, NO! You take the NO’s very personally; its difficult not to; there are consequences if you don’t!

You were born feeling the urge to ROAR about yourself and life. WOW was your word of choice. After 60,000 NO’s, you begin whining WOE; you no longer see the world as a giant playground, and you no longer see yourself as a triumph victor.

The fear of NO was a basic ‘survival reaction’ during the Neanderthal era. During this time, a member of a tribe could not afford to be harshly judged; could not afford to hear “NO!” … he would be cast out of the community; he could never survive alone; he’d be eaten by a saber tooth tiger! Therefore, all members of the tribe were emotionally vulnerable to any kind of NO.

Neanderthal days are gone. There are no saber tooth tigers. Let your pondering of this turn into a powerful realization. Can you see how this ‘survival reaction’ has been destroying your promising future?

Student: Why do I continue to live with this painful error of fearing NO’s.

Teacher: Because you do not take the time to make your mind intelligent to the facts:

1. You are wonderfully made.
2. You are destined to win at whatever you set your mind to.
3. You are worthy of all that is good and beautiful.

The World-Voice will continue to heap piles of NO’s upon you (simply watch the evening news). If you intend to do more with your life than just “go along”, then you must get on with your life. e.e. cummings offers a incredible insight: “To be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting.”

Do you intend to soar with the eagles or peck at the ground with the chickens? If you intend to soar, then it’s high time that you learn to ROAR. ROAR-ing is an inside job. You do it in the privacy of your own mind. You don’t do it by trying to impress others.

If a soaring airplane motor begins sputtering, you cannot make it fly better by grounding it and applying a fresh coat of paint.

You soar when you make your mind intelligent to the fact that your time has arrived. It is time to cast aside all accumulated NO’s. Triumph now! Your triumph over NO is half won by rising above the ‘survival reaction’ of 50,000 years ago. It is time to quicken your consciousness to the truth of your unlimited nature! The little Orange book on ‘how to ROAR’ will be available soon!

You can stop ruinous NO’s from stopping you from experiencing your hidden talents and unrealized potential. You can start a new and rich life far above the madness of howling NO’s.

I will continue with this conversation on future blogs; please offer comments to help others understand the knowledge you have on this topic.

Unknowing Victims in Today’s World

Today’s blog is an excerpt from my contribution to Joe Wilner’s forthcoming ebook: “The Great Life Philosophies: Advice for Significant and Successful Living.” Part 2 will be revealed exclusively in the ebook due out in early February. Mr. Wilner is the blogger behind Shake Off the Grind - Advice for thriving not just surviving.

Are you tired of being unknowingly victimized by reports of a deep recession and stories of violent crimes? Good! Then it’s time to recognize how the World-Voice harasses you in ways that adversely affect your attitude and mood.

The World-Voice is found on the headlines of the morning paper; it’s the lead story in the evening news, it’s on the Internet and it’s parroted by friends and neighbors. “Woe is me” has become the chant of the twenty first century.

Most folks have given up W.O.W. (Wonderful Obsession Winning!) for W.O.E. (What On Earth!); we’ve given up our inherent position as ‘sovereign master’ of our earthly experiences for being the helpless victim.

Enough is enough already! Whether you are aware of it or not, you are continually assaulted with misleading opinions that would have you believe that you are incapable of experiencing a safe and prosperous life. Everyone is the target of these lies spoken by the World-Voice; lies that threaten you with loss of every nature (ill health, loss of income, loss of love…).

You are marvelously made, and destined to win at whatever you set your mind to. What will it be for you … riches of every nature or feelings of insecurity and poverty?

The only problem that exists in the world right now is a lack of information about the superlatively creative skills that human beings possess. We have stopped talking to ourselves about our supreme ability to design our earthly destiny as we want it to be. Children do it, until they are hit with 60,000 NO’s between age two and six; then they too, begin trembling; they begin thinking of themselves as incapable of fulfilling on their dreams.

When it comes to your world of experiences – you are the sovereign master! This curing fact will save you from being part of the Woesome pack.

It is crucial that you recognize the truth about you. The harmful World-Voice will not have you know that you are an infinitely unique being; it will deny that your hidden talents and unrealized potential are beyond measure.

Accept no longer, the World-Voice as your own voice! This Voice uses unaware human beings. Your true voice speaks of your unlimitedness; listen to it. The truth speaks to you from deep inside. Dismiss discouraging thoughts – make room for spiritual health and prosperous living.

Are you truly paying attention right now? Are you nodding in agreement? Then you’ve turned the light on … right there before you is the truth! Write down some of the talents that you wish you had:

(1) I wish I was a good writer.
(2) I wish I was smarter.
(3) I wish I was able to start my own business and make a lot of money.

If you can think about them, THEN YOU HAVE THEM! Review your list. Increase your wisdom for detecting how these hidden talents want to express through you.

Now go out into the world and ACT AS THOUGH YOUR HIDDEN TALENTS ARE ALREADY SO – these hidden talents are no longer hiding from you. Persist; you will hear higher voices of sanity and compassion speaking to you. That is the Authentic-Self finally getting to have its say. LISTEN!

Declare your independence from the World-Voice; declare yourself free from the harassing tone of WOE; it’s like moving from a loud, noisy street to a quiet, serene park. IF IT IS TO BE, IT IS UP TO THEE!

Thank you and blessings.

Are You Aware of Your Mechanical Thinking?

It is shocking to find out how little we use our minds in fresh and new ways. Have you ever taken the time to notice how mechanical your thoughts can be? How often do you say, “I think…”, and what follows is not something that you’ve really thought in the moment, but rather it is something that you mechanically say in a situation like this?

Mechanical thinking is psychological slavery; it puts you behind emotional prison bars that do not allow you the freedom to try something new in your life. How are you to begin a new business, how are you to make new friends, how are you to explore new adventures or come up with new ways of making money if you always think mechanically?

Illuminating tip = Mechanical thinking begets a mechanical life.

You are a creative genius, here to thrive. Thriving is feeling fully alive! You are not here to mechanically react to life and barely survive!

When we think mechanically, we are listening to inward self-talk that is echoing thoughts from our past. Here is an excellent example of the insanity of mechanical thinking; you will find the following story in the little orange book on ROAR-ing that will be available soon:

Imagine walking by a hospital, and an ambulance siren begins screaming. You notice the medics rushing to the ambulance, and you ask, “What’s going on?” A medic shouts, “We’re reacting to an accident that happened thirty years ago.” Can you see the insanity? Yet, you react to sirens of the past whenever you respond to a situation now like you did back then. The past is over; it’s time to turn down the volume on old mechanical self-talk; declare your mind a ‘mechanical-free zone’!

No longer allow old, worn out thinking to be your slave-master. Notice those old thought-habits that have hardened into unconscious whips that force you to think as you always thought. Unconscious whips stop you from experiencing yourself as the superlatively creative being that you truly are.

When you catch yourself mechanically repeating old thought-habits – say this, “I have temporarily misplaced my sanity.” You’re adding levity to the matter, which makes it easier to break free of psychological slavery; slavery that binds you to past thought-habits. In such moments, you can think anew …
SO REFRESHING!

Experience this freedom for yourself. No longer be trapped with mechanical thinking that insists that you do what you always did – learn to R.O.A.R. – awaken from psychic sleep – SWEET PLEASURE!

There is plenty to say about this blog. It is a powerful blog. Ponder it. Offer your comments. Teach others more about what I am saying by offering your insights. Make a fresh and new statement right now (for your sake).

Thank you … and blessings
