A great way to learn how to play ‘the game of life’ the right way is to learn how to reframe time (distort time) so it works for you. The invention of time (as a linear state of mind) is a human trait … and as a consequence … ‘temporal shifting’ is an empowering opportunity that no other creature in the animal kingdom can do.
What is ‘temporal shifting”? It is deliberately taking a problem state and placing it in the past so that you create mental space for the solution (here and now). If the problem is crowding out the space of here and now … there is no room for the solution to appear (even if the solution is obvious).
Outstanding achievers are constantly placing their problems in the past so that they may access solutions now. Thomas Edison was famous for saying, “I had a problem,” even when the problem was still unsolved. Why do that? Let me give you an example of doing it (a simple example):
You are driving. Bang! You get a flat tire. You pull over. You get out of the car and look at the hissing tire. You say, “I had a problem.” (perhaps it is unconscious, but that is what you say). In that instant, you’ve placed the problem in the past … and you have created space for the solution to arrive (here and now). In the next instant, you think – ‘the trunk!’ You look in the trunk of the car and there is a car-jack and a spare tire (the solution). Had you not placed the problem in the past, you would have wailed, “woe is me … I have a problem, I have a problem!” … and in that mental state it would not even occur to you to look in the trunk. Yes, that’s true!
So, you do distort time naturally (place the problem in the past to create mental space for the solution to come to you here and now). It is time to do this with bigger problems than flat tires. It is time to learn how to do it with recurring troubling solutions (so the recurrence comes to an end).
It would be a wonderful thing, don’t you think, if you had a single method for placing your problems behind you so that you could easily see the solutions right now … and in the future? Hmmm. Please do check out our webinar series (mingling of minds) … next one is this upcoming Thurs eve at 8:00 p.m. I will show you how to distort time in an empowering fashion. It is powerful and creatively inspiring. (sign up here if you have not already.)
‘Old time’ medicine men used to go through the country-side pedaling one remedy … claiming it to be a cure-all. We laugh at that idea now. Should we? What if learning how to distort time so that you could sprinkle answers and solutions way out into the future and even way back there in the past (so they were empowering references for you) … what if that is possible? (1) What if learning how to effectively distort time is a cure-all? (2) What if it is what great scientists, inventors and hugely successful business-persons and political figures distort time all of the time so that they may access the wisdom and intelligence they need to solve great problems?
This is the point of this blog – you can distort time and it empowers you!! Anything that engenders your confidence will do you good. You are marvelously made and destined to win at whatever you set your mind to (be it good or bad).
‘According to your faith (heart-felt beliefs) so it shall be done unto you. I am talking pragmatically right now … and it is spiritual common sense. If it ain’t practical – it ain’t spiritual!!
You see – all of your problems (even if they appear physical), are mental. Let’s say that again: all of your problems are mental (even if they appear physical). Learning how to reframe time gives you command of that part of your mind where infinite intelligence dwells.
During last Thurs eve webinar:
(1) Jk asked about obsessions and addictions during the webinar last Thurs eve. Let me say this Jk: ‘human beings are addictive in nature, and this can be a powerful tool if we learn to become addicted to the right things (like learning how to place our problems in the past so that we can access answers and solutions right now). Imagine this as an incredible obsession (Thomas Edison had it).
(2) Suzie declared herself prosperous in the domain of physical health (during the last webinar). Imagine becoming incredibly obsessed with that declaration and you will feel vital and healthy. Imagine being addicted to putting the problem of ‘feeling ill’ in the past (whenever it begins to show itself), so that you can immediately come up with the right and perfect thing to think, feel and do to feel healthy once again!!! WOW.
(3) Parker declared himself prosperous with the spirit of determination (during the webinar). What a great experience of prosperity, Parker. Love that addiction (addicted to be determined about the good things in life). Imagine being obsessed with putting the feeling of hesitation in the past (whenever it rears its ugly head), so that you may create space for determination once again. YES SIR.
The LAW OF BELIEF is not intellectual belief … it is heartfelt belief … which is what we get when we learn to become incredibly obsessed with beliefs that inspire us. There is a Temple Gate that is labeled: ‘BEAUTIFUL’. Dare to believe in it. Dare to place your problems in the past so that you may access that gate and enter the land of milk and honey.
Okay – now please be philanthropic and leave a comment that helps others gain from your thoughts on this blog. We get what we give. Be generous so that you may receive a generous bounty of all that is beautiful. Give an experience or thought that helps reinforce the ‘spirit of beauty’.
- What ‘wishful thinking’ have you converted into a ‘heartfelt belief’ … and consequently … attracted that thing into your life?
- What’s the ‘cure-all method that helps you to turn problems into solutions in every domain of your life?
- How have you turned your attitude form ‘inhibition and failure’ into ‘boldness and achievement’ ?
Thank you for participating with the blog, and please do consider participating in the webinar. ‘Thou shalt decree a thing and it shall be so for thee!’ What will you decree to be next for you?
Blessings

Rob: This was a great blog and helped reinforce an important topic that you’ve been generous enough to share with me. It was so far from my “old” way of thinking that it has taken me a good week of continual thought to grasp the basic understanding. I have put a lot of thought to this topic, and it finally became understandable once I put it in practice. Yes, I even used it. I know that we all use this to a degree, but I consciously used it this past weekend. It’s amazing how using this method of “putting problems in the past” minimizes the stress from creeping into my mind about the problem that’s already in front of me. Instead of the normal sensation of warm stress, I felt an urge of ease – backed with multiple thoughts of solutions. Seriously. Here’s my story from this past weekend———-Getting out of the car, my son tripped over my daughters leg, and banged up his knee pretty bad. I saw the entire thing happen right in front of me. He was rushing to get in front of her and subsequently tripped, sliding along the pavement- badly scrapping his knee. Because I’ve had this very topic on my mind a lot lately (“temporal shifting”), the first thing that popped into mind was…”I had a problem” directly after realizing that I had taken the first aid kit out of the car for a long bike ride we went out a couple weeks back – and I never put it back in the car. Instead of feeling stressed, as I normally would have – leading me to panic and make the situation worse I felt overcome by solutions leading me to address the need to physically clean and bandage his knee. Seriously! I turned into McGuiver – popped open the trunk – and to my pleasure I had two sparkling clean towels that I had put in the car for a car wash that I never got to last week. Also, I had a half-full bottle of water. So, I was able to clean his knee with the water and one towel and then wrap his knee with the second towel. A situation where I would have normally freaked out – went smoothly, almost like it was planned! My energy kept my son’s energy intact. He was confident that I’d take care of him, because I showed him confidence.

Now, to answer the questions…
1-I’ve thought and felt for years that positive thinking will generate positive results. While I’ve felt, practiced and believed in this – I haven’t fully reaped the rewards from it. I can honestly say that while I think positively overall, in many situations I truly don’t as I look back in hindsight. There are times, especially when I’m not very confidant that I think negatively (by preparing for the worst) and “hope” for a positive outcome. “Over-analyzing the wrong thing”!
2-I try to see problems as opportunities. This is very easy to say – not as easy to do. This is a problem that I had!
3-I have not been a success in the area of totally changing my attitude from ‘inhibition and failure’ into ‘boldness and achievement’. But I’m in the process of developing that ability even as I type – openly and honestly. I’ve become a student again. Like my elementary school aged children, I’m a student! A student on a path of recreation, reinvention so that I can become magnificently philanthropic and prosperous beyond my current state.

Sorry about the length of my comment, Rob!
Thanks for everything and I can’t wait for Thursday!
I believe that your comment o my blog is as good as my blog, Jk. I am recommending that everyone take the time to read your comment slowly, so that they may absorb it. BY JOVE, YOU’VE GOT IT!!! Whenever you find yourself insisting that you ‘have a problem’(rather than declaring that you ‘had a problem’, pause to ask yourself, ‘Why do I feel it necessary to have an enemy at this time?” Great job, Jk. blessings
Notice, Jk, what Sylvia has said – she is acknowledging and appreciating the gift you have given her with your comment on my blog.
JK, I send you hugs. I love your willingnes to be so wide open. I look forward to masterminding with you.
Thank you for acknowledging and appreciating Jk for going the extra mile, Sylvia. You notice things like that because I have witnessed you often ‘going the extra mile’. Blessings
Wow! JK actually made me tear up
in a good way! I’m not sure which one to comment on! I don’t have a “cure all” solution just yet but what works for me is saying “ok Kara, this too shall pass.” That helps calm me down and get a wider perspective. I find that is a good first step for me.
p.s. you were great on the webinar too JK. You really wear your heart on your sleeve.
Indeed, Kara, ‘this too shall pass’ … when converted to ‘this too has passed’ gives you even more power to find the solution. These teachings show you how to be astonishingly valuable to yourself. blessings
Wow, that is some pretty heavy hypnotic stuff. Dr. Milton Ericson, a world famous healer as well as a renowned medical doctor and psychiatrist, used to dabble in the idea of time distortion for healing reasons. He wrote very little about it. I think you are channeling some pretty profound stuff right now, rob. I guess you’d call it ‘mingling your mind with some pretty profound thinkers’. I like it, and I like what Jk had to add to it.
I guess we could call ‘mingling minds’ a form of ‘channeling the thoughts of others, Salty. The bottom line – have a mental plan of action for yourself and watch how smoothly your earthly plans unfold. blessings.
I have a heartfelt belief that I love people and love talking to everyone. I attract plenty of that into my life. I am lucky to have a ton of great friends and family that I love dearly and can rely on. I can see that it was my belief that “I’m a people” person has me attract all kinds of interesting and fun people in my life.
Indeed, Carol Anne, ‘people persons’ are ‘people magnets’. We attract what we think about all day long. When thinking about something that your essence says is right, you are in love with thinking in the right way. It seems that your essence loves you thinking that you are a ‘people person’. Nice job. blessings
Hi Rob,
Very nice post my friend. I never looked at problems this way (to put them in the past)but I think I’m going to start to. What I usually do is whenever I encounter a problem, I immediately try to focus and look for solutions. When I don’t dwell on the problems and focus on the solutions, I achieve great results all the time. I always remind myself that for every experience, there is more than one interpretation one positive and one negative and I choose to focus on the positive interpretation. Thanks for sharing my friend
In order to believe that there are two sides to every interpretation, Dia, you must put one side in the past while you focus on the other side. It all happens at the speed of thought, which is faster than the speed of light (so you don’t notice). The journey goes forward with ease, simply by traveling on and not questioning when your essence is guiding you. It seems that you do that a lot. It’s a gift. Be grateful. blessings
I can see that when I am in a panic state, I clearly am holding onto A problem right here in the moment. And in such moments, I have no access to answers. Jk pointed this out nicely with his personal example. What I never realized before is that the mind can only deal with one moment of time at a time, and if that moment of time is presenting a problem, the mind screams, “I’VE GOT A PROBLEM!!!” It doesn’t even look for a solution.
Love your approach to this Rob. I think part of the problem with problems is that we don’t put them into the past until we feel we have a solution and they are put to bed. To declare it done and dusted when it’s just happened is reframing at its best and frees the mind to switch focus to moving beyond it. When I get a problem I ask myself, ‘what’s this showing me?’ It’s as if I’m being invited to go beyond the issue to spot what’s really going on. Often that alone shakes me loose from a difficulty and opens doors for progress. Some posts people write are based on others’ thinking but not this one Rob, this is one unique piece of work. Many thanks many times.
NIce job, John. You restated the blog in a most plain manner, which helps others to see why learning to play with the mind by distorting time put one in command of one’s life. YES, the mind can only deal with one thing at a time – so place the problem in the past so the solution can be available now. Try joining us Thurs eve (the webinar at 8:00 E.S.T., we will take this deeper. You can be a contribution. A simple wish to start fresh in any moment requires reframing time so that the problem is back there (it’s history, and newness is right here right now. blessings.
Would love to Rob but that time is in the wee hours of the morning here in the UK. I’m just going to have to move to the States somehow – any ideas?
Hi Rob, I think I turned my “wishful thinking” into a reality concerning my health. I was always feeling run down and tired and I made a change to become vegitarian. That was 10 years ago and I always have a ton of energy and feel great. I had wished to feel healthy and now my belief is that being a vegetarian supplies me with tons of energy and vitality.
So one day,Rus, you put the recurring problem of ill-health in the past and sought the solution in the ‘next moment of now’. Vegetarian occurred to you in a new and dynamic way – a way that was not available when ill-health was the thought of the day. Nice example. Right submission is to submit to what is ‘right’ … right inside of yourself (and you cannot do that when your problems are staring in your face). blessings
I seem to put my solutions in the future because I find that I am constantly worrying about things, and then they come to pass somewhere down the line. Just admitting this helps me to see that I am distorting time, but I’m doing it in the wrong fashion.
I like your take on ‘distorting time’, John. By noticing how you are ‘distorting time’ in the wrong fashion, you create space to distort time in the right fashion. Nice job. One good reason for noticing what we are doing wrong is the mental act of noticing can reveal concealed frustration … and with this revelation comes new solutions. blessings.
I find I get bored when I’m not “putting out fires.” Time flies when I am running around taking care of crises. I have always thrived on challenges and would say I don’t see them as problems. When a crises comes up I like to think that I can rise to occasion. It gives me almost an adrenaline rush. But, thats just me.
If ‘putting out fires’ is your way of moving the problem to the past so that ‘the water’ is available now – perfect, Roger. It is beautiful and intelligent to go into our days putting fires (problems) in t he past and water (solutions) in the present. blessings.
Boy, I am working on turning my failures into achievements. I have so many failures that If I could turn 1/3 of ALL them into triumphs I’d be the next Donald Trump and Bill Gates combined. Maybe I should look at those failures and see what I can learn – there is probably enough lessons there to fill a library!
Indeed, Angry Ramone, failures are troublesome if we let the disappointing feeling linger (which is not to put the failure in the past). When we look for the lesson the failure offers, we have put that failure in the past and made space for the lesson to reveal itself. Great achievers make great failures (but fail to see their failures that way). blessings.
A heartfelt belief? The biggest and most powerful one? “I am worthy.” That one has helped me move forward and claim my success. If I forget it, I stop and do all possible things in order to clear my head and get back on track. We are all worthy.
YES, Tess, we are all worthy. We gain that insight when we put our problems in the past and allow solutions to occur now. When we allow our problems to linger in the present, it becomes difficult to feel worthy. A basic human mistake is that men and women erroneously think that they are unworthy of living a life of love, laughter, joy and solutions. blessings
I learned this when my grandmother used to say, “that problem is in your past, what wonderful things do you want to happen in your future?” I always loved that advice.
YES, Karen, your grandmother was framing time without having to take a course to learn how. It is very natural to do. She’d caught on, and taught it to you. Nice! Is there an order in which problems fade and solutions take prominence? Indeed, and your grandmother understood this. blessings
Great post, Rob!
I totally agree, and I love this theory because it can be applied to so many different areas of life. The truth of this theory really comes out when you look at it in the negative sense; when you are preoccupied with negative thoughts, you attract more negativity in your life. The good news is that I think this is a learned behaviour, and therefore can be unlearned…a valuable lesson for parents as this way of being (positive or negative) almost certainly will be passed on.
Much to think about!
I like your tip, Kristy, that holding onto problems (by keeping them in the present) is a learned behavior … and learned behaviors can be unlearned by replacing that behavior with something new. What falls away when we learn a new behavior? Answer: the old behavior that the new behavior is replacing. blessings
This is so powerful, I love the idea of moving fluidly back and forth through time rather than in a linear motion. At any one time we can create all the headspace we need to achieve everything we are capable of and more without any infingements on our creativity.
Think I may have found another favourite blog….perhaps I can distort time to allow me to read everything I want to, great blogs, amazon wishlist, bulging bookcases……this problem is in the past!
WOW, I love your enthusiasm and your authentic way of expressing yourself. it is apparent. When we watch the healthy process of taking control of time, unnatural habits fall away as easily as leaves fall from the tree in autumn. Thank you.
That’s one I’m working on, Tess. I struggle with money and am always feeling pinched. I know its because deep down I feel I don’t deserve it, my mother indoctrinated me with that belief. So, I am always reminding myself that I am worthy and its getting better and better.
Your mom may have indoctrinated you with a belief that has you jittery around money, Alicia, and you know that ‘it is up to you’ to indoctrinate yourself with an opinion around money that has you enthusiastic and joyful. We cannot escape our money-fears, BUT WE CAN DISSOLVE THEM. Thank you for your contribution to this blog. blessings
Rob,
This is an interesting theory that makes sense to me. Like you said, even our physical, emotional problems are actually mental problems. Therefore, what we think does matter.
It is not what other think and feel of you, it matters what we think of ourself, that makes us happier or sadder in reality!
Webinar seems off to a great start! With kids I am unable to join right now, but hope you can put in blog someday so I can catch up!
‘Reframing time’ is a marvelous fact that works, has always worked and always will work. Most folks simply do not realize it when they are doing it. They are unconsciously competent at doing ‘reframing time’. The power lies with becoming consciously competent at doing it so we can do it at will. It is only from our awareness of that of which we are ignorant – that we learn something new. I love being aware of my ignorance! blessings.
This is great Rob. Exactly what I need to hear. When ever things don’t go the way I want them too I get I get furious and become almost paralyzed. Im a bit of perfectionist and just cant stand in it when things go awry. I will definitely using this.
When we are furious and paralyzed, we are frozen in time, GeorgieBoy. We see the problem looming bright in this very moment now, and this very moment now looms bright in the next moment and the next moment and the next. This is precisely when we must reframe time and place that problem (crisis) behind us (in the past) so that we may shift our consciousness and notice the many solutions that are available. Thank you for sharing.
Beautiful insights.
I noticed that some of our most effective leaders are great at shifting to the future — they’re always asking, “What’s next?” or “What’s possible?” … future is the space of “opportunity.”
I’ve always used mental pictures from the past, highlight of my life, to draw strength and conviction or inspiration. I’ve also noticed how just as easily the past could be about finger-pointing or dwelling.
I’ve noticed that it’s easy to get stuck, by debating values in the present, or how things “should” be.
Ironically, it wasn’t until I read the book Thank You for Arguing that I found the simple frame:
- past = blame
- present = values
- future = opportunity
Everything suddenly made perfect sense.
Nice comment, J.D. You help folks to understand better what they are not understanding about time, and how it can be used to help us with our aspirations and aims. Help begins when we continue to search for answers by looking at our past for lessons and looking toward our future for opportunities (as you pointed out). nice job. blessings
