Okay … let’s get particular.
I will tell you something about myself.
I am going to give you my favorite word – PHILANTHROPIST.
I love that word.
A philanthropist is a person with a mission; the mission is to improve the well-being of humankind.
Hmmm.
That means that life is a philanthropist … the universe is a philanthropist … mother nature is a philanthropist … and … I declare myself a philanthropist! I am keeping good company!!
Philanthropy is prosperity in action.
Philanthropy is not reporting about prosperity – philanthropy is loving to demonstrate ‘love’ of every kind (by sharing it) … so that everyone may profit from it.
Do you know how many of my 3 lb book (180) I’ve given away?
Over 1,750 books … Yup … over 1,750 books… many of you folks have received them in the mail … and I even pay the $3.00 for the postage.
Are you crazy, rob? What’s it cost to publish a copy of that heavy, hard-bound, multi-color book … and you even pay the postage?
The cost is not important … I consider the books that I give away as ‘seed-books’ (like Johnny Appleseed planting apple seeds throughout New England – and now there are apple orchards everywhere you look)!
Do you want to know something? It works … planting ‘seed-books’ works! Is it extraordinarily coincidental that I’ve sold 20,000 books after sending our 1,750 ‘seed-books’? I’ve heard that tithing 10% will yield multiples. Is there something to this ‘tithing thing’? I did not plan it this way … I was simply being a philanthropist … but it has worked out this way. Is this what Goethe is referring to when he say’s that ‘providence moves to help you’?
Right now, I am busy publishing 500 copies of my first five e-books … so that I may give them away at the book fairs and book signings events coming up.
I am a Philanthropist.
I don’t just report that I am a philanthropist … I get involved; I put my feet upon the ‘path of prosperity’ by practicing philanthropy with all that I consider right and good.
A mother loves to be a philanthropist when with her baby. There is nothing mom won’t do to assure the baby’s well-being (including changing its yecchy diaper at 3:00 a.m.) Oh, how mom loves her baby!
Oh, how life loves you …
Oh, how the universe loves you …
Oh, how the mother-nature loves you …
let it seep in … a little more … and a little more still.
Do you love life …. do you love the universe … do you love the planet … do you love humanity … are you ready to declare yourself a philanthropist and get involved in proving it?
You cannot report on philanthropy and prosperity, but then go about your day worrying about money, or loss of love, or ill health or the terrible condition of the state of worldly affairs? Do not listen to the fear of letting go of your old self, and another (and better) way will reveal itself to you.
Totally immerse yourself into the idea of being a qualified philanthropist – give away what you want to keep … coincidentally (or not so coincidentally), you will have a multiple of that which you give returned (in one form or another),to you. What a great cycle of prosperous living you begin, when you do this … you then have ‘even more’ of what you give coming back to you … and you know what to do with it … give more of it away … again and again!
I even went on twitter and said – “Who wants my book for free … let me know and I will send it to you.” I love practicing the ‘Fine Art of Philanthropy’.
And now I am beginning a new philanthropic event: a mingling of minds with a definite, chief aim in mind – share with folks the specific secrets to beginning a fresh and new life. (no more dull, mechanical living for those who join).
Will you become part of this alliance of minds for the betterment of humankind? Have you signed up?
This webinar series begins Oct 14th and 8:00 p.m. (east coast time). Dare’st you deny yourself this opportunity?
It’s free … it’s an act of philanthropy, and you can become part of it.
A thirsty wanderer in the desert was desperately looking for water. Suddenly, he felt a tap on his shoulder – and as he jerked his head around – he saw a stranger standing there with a canteen of fresh water. An alert mind finds what it is looking for. Are you looking for prosperity in any domain of your life (mental, physical, spiritual, financial, emotional, relationship)? … tap, tap … Webinar begins Oct 14th at 8:00 p.m.
Join the Mastermind Alliance Webinar that will begin on Thursday Oct. 14 (it’s free). It will blow your left-brained intellectual mind so you can get to the heart-mind where real transformation occurs. Please sign up here if you are interested in participating. I am a hoarder. I can see that. I can see how it has hurt me. I can see why prosperity is often rare for me to experience. I like this blog. It reminds me of what I should not do. I should not hoard, it just doesn’t work in the end. You are so honest with us with your blogs, rob. I want to be equally honest with you.
The ego, Rus, does not want you exposing your bad habits to others. That’s how it maintains its control over you (by insisting that ‘looking good’ is more important than revealing your bad habits so that you may change). You are taking a vital step toward regaining command of your life when you are willing to share habits that you want to rid yourself of. It takes courage to do that. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Hi Rob,
Thanks for sharing the wonderful definition of philanthropy. Prosperity in action is a descriptive phrase showing that philanthropy covers all areas of life. It’s giving freely and giving with love as your motivating factor.
Thanks again for sharing your wisdom and have a fun day
Ryan
Yes, Ryan, philanthropy can be applied in all areas of life – a big, bright, meaningful smile is a philanthropic experience. The universe is forever offering philanthropic support with whatever you set your mind to, Ryan. Let your personal action be philanthropic and your personal world goes right effortlessly. blessings

hello rob
how are you?
i am totally inspired by reading this post and my position on this approach has being reinforced using your experience as a case study.the concept of being philantrophic is mind blowing at times and it’s just right.there’s a proverb in context which is it’s better to give than to receive.
thanks for sharing this .
take care and enjoy the rest of the day
Your response to this blog is philanthropic, ayo. It is full of love and wonder! Such a gift! The mind can be a wall or an open gate to life’s myriad riches. Practicing philanthropy makes it an open gate! blessings
You know, rob, that I have purchased a least a dozen of your books for family and friends. Do you know what convinced me that you were the ‘real thing’? I was convinced when you sent me five books for free and asked me to donate them to my church library, after I told you how we were using your book at our Monday night meetings. You do walk your talk, rob, and that is something that is very beneficial for me to model. thank you.
For me, Kara, you are a wonderful example of someone who let ordinary thinking come to an end, so that extraordinary thinking could begin. You are so different now than when I first became acquainted with you. You have placed yourself within reach of your higher self – and it is embracing you! blessings
Hi Rob,
I love the concept of philanthropist. A few years ago, I knew a friend who makes over $200,000 a year, working 7 days a week. He sends the money that he earns from his weekend job all to his family in India. He said the more he helps people, the more God helps him and the more he gives money to his family and others, the more he gets in return. This is fasinating. It is all about giving from your heart. Thanks for sharing my friend.
YES, Dia, giving (when philanthropic) is a heart-felt generosity – which puts us in flow with ‘the infinite’. what a curious and healthy and pleasant experience! blessings
One of my goals in life was to be “financially successful” so so that by the time I’m 60, I’d be doing philanthropy work.
I never thought of doing it before then, I always went on the idea of the ones who take care of themselves first, are the ones who are most giving…
some things for me to think about..
thanks rob!
I have found that the best way to take care of myself, parkerlee, (even before age 60) is to give, give and give some more … always eagerly anticipating a rich return so that I may increase the cycle more and more! Your opportunity to be rich is right now, so go after it right now – give joyously (knowing the infinite will return multilples back to thee)! blessings
Hi Rob. I know the universe loves me! I am incredibly lucky. Even when I don’t have a lot of $ to give I love volunteering for community events. Last week I did a beach clean up. I’m looking forward to these webinars. It’s been way too long since the last retreat!
Indeed, Carol Anne, I have found you to always be a conductor (with everything you have). ‘To conduct’ means to be a channel for the purpose of conveying. You are always channeling (you are a supporter of the idea of circulation). You are a contribution to humanity in the way that you conduct yourself. Thank you for that.
A very remarkable strategic move with a lot of heart and well-meaning behind it. Good job Rob – the world needs more “Robs.”
Take care,
Alex
The world needs more Alex’s, Alex. Your ‘warm way’ gives feelings of warmth to everyone with whom you communicate. such a gift! The purpose of life is to find God – Truth – Reality. You are connecting with that purpose nicely. blessings.
Rob,
The idea of what we give is what we get applies to many areas of life. Your story really exemplifies a fundamental point about how to grow your brand or gain wealth from this perspective. It seems that part of this phenomenon could be that people begin to truly trust, believe in, and appreciate what you’re doing, and want to be a part of it. The more you show you believe in and care about the message you are sending, the more people are receptive to receiving it. It can be hard to give when what we have seems essential to our own circumstances, but we must learn to give in order to get. In a spiritual sense, we really own nothing anyway. It is all borrowed for the purpose to use to help and provide for others. Thanks for the post! Very inspiring!
Nice addition to the blog, Joe. Your addition serves as a blog of its own. it can stand alone and deliver a fabulous truth to anyone willing to listen. How rarely it occurs to anyone to use his (or her) mind in a new way, to make a better life … so that he (she) may share it with others. thank you, Joe Wilner.
I remember when I ordered your book. it did not arrive. I inquired. You said it had been sent two weeks earlier. I did not know you very well back then. The next thing I knew – two books arrived. I assumed you sent two books because you’d forgot to send the first one. A week later, the U.S. Postal Service delivered a third book (tattered and in a plastic envelope). I looked at the postage date. Yes, you’d sent that book to me way back when you said you did. That really blew me away. Now I had three books for the price of one! You said give the other two to loved ones, and you never questioned my original statement that I’d not received the first book. You do walk your talk, rob.
God sendsnothing but angels, Salty. You’re an angel in disguise (pretending to be ‘rough and ready for trouble’ but actually ‘a kind loving gentleman’). Thank you for being in my life. blessings
As they say – you’ve got to get out of the stands and on the pitch. That’s where you are Rob, making the calls in the middle. Whether it’s a book or a personal adventure best to lead not follow. Your story says all that to me Rob. Life is always on the next page.
Nice take on this blog, John. You speak simply, which is the only way the truth can be heard. thank you
Yes, Rob I am convinced this stuff works now. I remember you gave me a copy when I was doing the 180 day by day (Im doing it again on my own BTW!). I bought three, one for my sister, brother and a guy a work with (who really really needs it but probably wont read it
). I didnt realize there was such a ‘method to your madness.”
Yes, Indeed, there is method to the madness of the universe – that method is very sane … ‘give and ye shall receive multiples of like kind’. Sincerity is the first and last requirement for tapping into this madness. blessings
Rob,
Your showing the world how to lead with love. I love that you tweeted free books. How fun is that?
Thanks, Tess … I loved tweeting ‘free books’. Life is delightfully simple to whomever lives by natural laws (such as sowing and reaping). blessings
I got your book all the way over here in Australia and I handed it on to someone else I knew would love it to. I wonder how many people have read about it now:) So love reading this story and many congratulations on selling 20,000 books. That’s amazing. Inspiring. Proof that when you give you do get back. Well done Rob. Or shall I call you Mr. Philanthropy?:)
You are funny, Annabel. Your generosity and humor are signs of wisdom. Your life unfolds according to what you think about yourself – so, noticing your wonderful qualities is very important. blessings
No surprise here, Rob… you gave a nice seminar for my team and a book for everyone (I think it was 8?). All you asked was that if we enjoyed it buy a book for our friends and loved ones. I bought 3 but kept my signed copy for myself – I’m not THAT philanthropic! ha.
a boy was standing with his dad at a mountain stream. The boy asked what kept the water flowing. Dad answered that it comes from higher ground where the flow never ends. When we declare ourselves philanthropists, Don, we come from a higher ground of consciousness where the flow never ends. Giving those three books away was YOU coming from a higher consciousness. blessings
Whoa man! I’ve got some philanthropizing to catch up on! I want to get rich quick so I’ve got to start giving now! Seriously, this post got me thinking about how I can be more philanthropic. After giving it some serious thought, I think I could start giving guitar lessons in my community. Im sure I could find like an after school program who is looking for volunteers. I’m pretty high on this idea right now – and it feels great! Thanks for these great ideas Rob.
A man (woman) with something right in him, John, learns that to keep it he must give it away. Yes, give free guitar lessons (declare yourself a philanthropist for your sake). It’s WIN, WIN, WIN, WIN ,WIN for everyone concerned. blessings
Rob: I’ve known the the meeting of the word philanthropist for a long time, but somehow, over the years MY PERSONAL meaning of the word has changed. I guess with seeing the “famous” philanthropists like Oprah and Bill/Linda Gates I’ve curved my understanding to have a monetary focus – only. As I read this blog, my eyes opened, awakening me to the fact that I am, myself, a philanthropist – albeit not at the magnitude that I will be in the near future – for I’m becoming magnificently obsessed with it.
When I received a copy of your book 180 last week, my wife asked (as she walked in to the house from the mailbox) – “what did you spend a fortune on this time”?. As she handed me the heavy package, I explained that I had won a free copy of the book for my best comment of the week. As I opened the packaged, we were both amazed…at this point it wasn’t the text, it was the aesthetics: quality, colors, unique cover, a different iteration of Noteman art on each page. All this for free? for me? It touched me. Seriously.
I’m going to give it a shot this very weekend…give something away that I really want to keep. I’m going to totally immerse myself in being a qualified philanthropist – for I’ve been shown how it’s done and what it’s really about…and I thank you. I can’t use my same old lame excuses any longer.
I sincerely thank you Rob.
Be true to yourself, Jk, not to ideas you have about yourself. You are naturally such a marvelous philanthropist (you have revealed that to me in so many ways already). Be true to that truth about you. Jk. Your ideas about yourself as not having anything of real value to give are false, false, false. You’ve already given to me in many meaningful ways, and I am a very wealthy man (whom some would say it is difficult to give to). blessings
My problem with being a philanthropist is that the whole world is greedy and will take advantageof you. I prefer to to be on the other end of that.
A mind convinced against its will is of the same opinion still, Norm, but I hope you will reconsider your opinion on this matter. The Universal Force of Sowing and Reaping simply makes no errors. blessings.
Wow, Norm, I love what you did here (with two separate comments). You and I have spoken about those two different points of view within you. It seems they both showed up and offered their viewpoints about this blog .. and you offered each viewpoint in a separate comment – GENIUS! I hope you notice that the ‘voice of truth (the second comment you made) is a kinder, gentler voice. The truth never forces itself. Very imaginative (how you handled this). good job
Did you like my final touch to convince myself to speak to myself with a soft voice? I got the ‘blessings’ idea from you. It keeps things nice and easy!
> Philanthropy is prosperity in action.
That’s a beautiful one-liner reminder.
> I put my feet upon the ‘path of prosperity’
What a perfect path.
You have a gift of being able to extract the ‘pearl of wisdom’ from a lot of chit-chat, J.D. Nice!! thank you
Why did I have to buy one!? I’m unemployed! I’m kidding of course… I know what I getting my nephews for christmas now. They are 18 and 16 and I want them to catch on early (not like me)
Nothing is more exhausting, Ramone, than to carry around self-hampering thoughts. The reason I wrote the 180 book is to help folks replace those self-hampering thoughts with the inspiring truth. It is a wise and generous gift to give your nephews a book that set their mind on the path to success. blessings
Hi Rob,
I share generously..and it is magnified then put back into my life in a custom manner to enrich/teach/enable me to grow to share more..I open my heart and the riches of the Universe stream in..and I am guided on where best to share..magical indeed…
YES, joy, you have set a wonderful course for your life with your practice of sharing. Regardless of our many daily involvements, we must remember the importance of being a philanthropist (if we intend to have the universe treat us in a philanthropic manner). What goes around does come around – with the cosmic boomerang impeccably in action
Rob: Seriously. You are the best and this post only further provides confirmation of that fact. I loved this post and am so inspired by all you do and all you share. Thanks for always providing the best wisdom and insights. You are an amazing role model and we need a zillion more Rob(s)
You are very kind. Thank you Sibyl. There is something different about the answers of an authentic teacher, detected by folks (like you) who have something different inside of themselves, blessing,
To be a philanthropist… Interesting idea Rob… Your lesson is really inspiring, I wish you to give another 1,750 books
That’s a nice touch, Marko. What a great way to wish me further prosperity, by wishing that I give another 1,750 books away – expect it to happen!
blessings
