Money Matters – It Never Condemns, It Wants to Help

August 8th, 2010 by rob white

money_1I would like to begin by introducing my new Wednesday blog (on esoteric matters). It begins this upcoming Wednesday. The Wednesday blog will be an inquiry into the deep and virtual truths of ‘all of it’. This blog will interest folks who want to engage in a conversation that goes beyond the fight/flight mentality of the world voice.

Awareness of one’s unawareness IS SHEAR AWARENESS. Today’s blog will help awaken your awareness to the ‘natural flow’ and ‘exquisite perfection’ of life, so that you can become part of that flow, and participate fully in all aspects of life – including the ‘money domain’.

When I began admitting to myself that I was an ignoramus – one who was not only ignorant, but ignorant of being ignorant – I granted myself the authority to experience life-lessons in a new way. I no longer wailed out ‘poor me’ when things did not turn out as I’d hoped. I now sought wisdom; therefore, I asked, “How can I see things differently?” What a gift I gave myself!

money_2MONEY OFFERS A FABULOUS LIFE LESSON: You cannot worship god (circulation) and mammon (hoarding and greediness) too. Money is to be circulated, and it should be considered that way (and only that way).

Choosing ‘greed and hoarding’ never works, no matter what I apply it to. It applies to everything from love to money. I cannot hoard love. Trying to hoard love causes jealousy, which always amounts to misery. I cannot hoard money. Trying to hoard money cause greed, which always amounts to misery.

I’ve heard the myth that says ‘rich people are cheap when it comes to others’. I once believed it. It simply is not true. If rich people were greedy (hoarding money for their own personal gain), they would be worshiping mammon and inviting misery. (YES, some rich folks are greedy – the exception proves the rule). Some poor folks are greedy, too.

I LOVE MONEY AND MONEY LOVES ME… really means that money is a means to an marvelous end (that is what it means to me). If the end for which I am aiming, is to circulate money in ways that betters life in general, then I am in harmony with the basic laws of this ever-expanding universe. Sweet victory (no misery).

What can I do today to plant a little sowing-money so that more can come my way? How can I handle money so it loves to be around me? What shall my attitude be around money even when financial times seem tough? What about when I feel as though others are taking advantage of me with money matters? These are self-empowering questions worthy of pondering.

We’ve all learned about tithing – giving 10% of our money to a worthy cause as an act of gratitude. Tithing is good. It is circulating money in a helpful way.

How about flipping tithing around? What if I were to give 10% of my money (as sowing money) with the intention of attracting much more my way? Is that greed? What if I were to plant sowing-money everywhere I went by making a claim on the Force of Multiple Returns? Is that bad? What if you always considered every dollar bill I owned as an opportunity to sow… so that I could receive a multiple return of dollar bills? What if I wanted more and more money so I could use it to donate to great causes like cancer cure and helping the poor … and what if every time I did that I laid my claim for more money? Does that work? Yes, yes, yes.

Is that not what a good business investment is about – considering money as sowing money? The business owner begins the business (no matter what the product or service may be), hoping to sow his money effectively so that he may receive a multiple return… like the farmer sowing seeds in the field. Perhaps business owners did not think of it that way specifically, but that is what they are doing.

money_3Every time I handle a dollar bill – I consider it sowing-money. I pause to claim a multiple return on it; then I pay spend that dollar bill to pay my utility costs or to buy a cup of coffee. I always consider money as sowing money, all of my friends will tell you that. I love to pick up the tab and then lay my claim on the infinite for a multiple return. Try it, you will be wonderfully startled at how easily money will begin returning in multiples to you.

I have included this money idea into my personality – “I am one who sows money. I don’t earn money and spend money; I sow money in multiple ways and I receive a rich harvest of money in return. I give my money and I use my money for all that is good. I love money and money loves me.”

I think this is enough for one blog.

What do you think?

Does it bother you to say, “I love money”?

Do you tithe?

What if you flipped it around? What if, instead of giving 10% of your paycheck to a good cause (which is after the fact), you get in front of the Cause/effect game with Money and sow it? What if you become the cause … you decide the multiple return you will get by laying a claim as you spend your money?

All things are for use and for use only.

What use have you made of money?

My book 180 offers great tips on how to fully participate in life (handling money is a part of participation).

P.S. We have started a new “Best Comments of the Week” feature on our homepage. Our way of saying thank you for all of your contributions that enhance this blog and enrich our readers. Last weeks winners were Sandra Hendriks and Jenny Ann Fraser for articulating their sincere thoughts so effectively.

  1. Oh I loved this!! I had not thought of money that way exactly but I do see it as what goes around comes around kind of thing – I believe that I give when I spend and it will return. Perhaps I have it a little skewed though as I also tend to see it as a means of investing in that the return might not always be financial in nature… My daughter is a serious student of ballet so her training requires an investment… and with that investment comes enrichment in ways that touch her life as well as mine and those who know us. I see most everything I do like this – I might invest the money and the wealth returns in so many ways – enriching and stretching and broadening.

I must admit though that I close each envelope and send each bill, with check (yes, I still write out the check and personally send it) with a feeling of gratitude.

I am going to think about this idea though – it is something I had not considered. Thank you!

I love your addition to the blog, Exception. YES, when I pay my all of my bills (even my quarterly tax payments), I always put a little ‘thank you’ on the lower left of the check. I do this to remind me that ‘I do love money and money does love me – always’.

Excellent! You’ve given me a new way to approach life and a new way of thinking about money. It’s very timely to receive this at things place in my journey. Thank you.

When the student is ready, the life-lesson appears. Caileagh. I am glad I could help. Continue to come back and read future comments on this blog this week – you will be in awe with the answers that others offer.

  4. Dia says:

    Hi Rob,

Powerful information you have got here. Many people unfortunately think that money is bad or evil while the contrary is true. The phraze “I love money and money loves me” is so powerful. A few months I started creating a loving relationship with money and the results are beginning to show. Excellent post my friend.

    • rob says:

I love ‘the power’ that you see in the statement, “I love money and money loves me” … Dia … some folks get upset with this statement because they still think money is somehow ‘bad’ or the enemy. Money is what we make of it. You understand that, Dia. I appreciate your input.

  5. Yes I love money and money loves me! The funny thing about tithing is I always thought oh, I’ll tithe when I have more money. The thing is it never happened. I never thought I had enough to tithe no matter how much I had. I still don’t tithe. Oh dear does that make me doomed? I wonder what the percentage of people is who do tithe. That a side, I’m very generous with money always, leave a 20% tip plus. I support Wounded Warriors and The Smile Train, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts…But that’s not tithing.

    • rob says:

WOW, Tess, this is a real Zen comment THAT you have made. It makes so much sense, and yet it almost sounds like nonsense- GENIUS. Folks will glean a lot from it. Thank you.

  6. ArtistNick says:

Yes rob loves to pick up the tab, I can attest to that! The second illustration is art imitating life — now I have to have my art imitate MY life some more.

  7. Tithing or giving money is very important, we do that even when we are short on money, we give lesser 10% or so amount, we always give. It comes back to us in many different ways! I never saw it as sowing money, but it makes perfect sense.

    • rob says:

Everything we give will come back multiplied if we ‘give with an attitude of sowing’, Preeti (be it money, service, aid, help, love, praise or encouragement). When you give without giving the matter any thought of multiplying what you are giving – it does good. When you give, considering what your are giving as sowing seeds(such as seed-money, seed-service, seed-aid) …. expecting a multiple return … it makes a trememdous difference in the quality of life you experience. thank you.

  8. Marion says:

    Rob

What a great post. My attitude to money changed when some explained to me that money was energy. I love money – money is like love. The more you give the more you get back. You can’t hoard love because it dies – it needs to be free.

I love the idea of sowing money – like any crop you have your fill as the farmer and you get a chance to feed the world too.

You have brought pleasure to my day Rob – Thank you

    • rob says:

Thank you, Marion, for helping to further clarifywhat the blog is pointing to: everything we give … be it money, service, aid, help, love, praise or encouragement should be considered sowing. Lay a claim of a multiple on all of it (as you mentioned with love). The attitude of multiplying more of all good things sends out a fertile vibration that creates a bigger crop of all good things. This is a great way to overcome evil. blessings.

  9. Don says:

I like the comment you’ve made to Preeti, rob, that we cam sow other things (other than money) like doing good or giving encouragement and asking for a multiplied retrun. That makes sense, I see where people who sow love, have lots of loving friends.

    • rob says:

Indeed, Don, making a claim for a multiple return works on everything from ‘sharing love’ to ‘being in service to others’. Thoughts rule the world. Why not think about multiplying all that is beautiful and good rather than all that is ugly and bad?

  10. Rob, this really is a great angle on the truth about money. I was recently reading a Steve Pavlina article on monetizing your blog. The first thing we have to do is be absolutely clear on our feelings about making a profit. If we are ambivalent in any way, we are shooting ourselves in the foot. I like your reframe having difficulty reconciling greed with fear and hoarding. When I turn it around to having a generous value added outlook on the world, coupled with courage and abundance, it makes all the difference. I am still learning this :)

    • rob says:

Thanks Steve, for your input. Might I make a recommendation? You are a very intelligent person. Sometimes intellect gets in the way. I have a friend who is very happy, has over 1/2 billion in real estate assets, gives generously, is loved by his community and his family … and … he is ‘not that smart’ (or is he?). What I mean by that is that he does not give a lot of intellectual thought to matters. He has learned to turn everything into a ‘labor of love’ (including money matters), and it shows. Please do not take this personally. I was very intellectual about all of this stuff for the longest time – and I progressed very slowly. When I learned to turn to my heart (and trust the information without analyzing it)), all the insightful truths that I had gathered, came to life to support me.

  11. Rob, I’m now going to sow my money for infinite returns! I love this idea. I do pay my bills joyfully. I’m grateful for the services rendered and that I have the money to pay them. But, your idea of sowing vs. paying for something is awesome. I’m definitely sowing if we ever meet for coffee!

    • rob says:

By Jove, You got it, Angela. PAY FOR NOTHING … SOW EVERYTHING. Yes, indeed it is all an attitude of mind. I even pay bills ahead of time (very often) and sow the money by making a multiple claim on the money sent. The more I am able to take my mind from a ‘debt consciousness’, and place it in a ‘prosperity consciousness’, the easier it is to attract more money. Why do I want more money? So I can sow more money in hundreds of marvelous ways to help others and to help the world. I love money (what good it can do) … and money loves me (comes easily back to me in multiples).

  12. Lance says:

    Rob,
I love this way of looking at money. Really, it feels so right. Sowing money. Although I like to think I’m generous with my money – I haven’t really thought of it this way – “sowing money”. It feels like a paradigm shift – even if it is ever so slightly – toward a more abundance mentality.

    …and that’s a wonderful thing…

    • rob says:

Indeed, Lance, paradigm shifts cause shifts in our attitude. Shifts in our attitude cause shifts the way we behave toward something. Consider yourself a farmer and money is your seed. have a ball. it works!

  13. Andre says:

The law of sowing and reaping has been around since time began.
The farmer sows to reap but he has to let the seed out of his hand and the seed must be sown in fertile ground if he is to get a good harvest. He does not dig the seed up to see if it is growing but expectantly awaits for first the blade, then the ear and the full corn in the ear. Only then does he joyfully bring in the harvest.
Money should be your servant and not your master. A servant is always working for you and it cannot if it is sitting in your wallet or your bank.
If you want a paradigm shift on giving then why not work towards giving away 90% and keeping the 10%? That is abundant thinking.

    • rob says:

The idea of giving away 90% and keeping 10& will work at a specific time in one’s money involvement (when that person is wealthy). There are some wealthy folks who do that. Most folks cannot afford to give away 90% for practical reasons. They won’t have enough to live on, and they will worry about their bills … and that serves opposite the reason for considering money as seed-money. Prosperity consciousness is what we are looking for. if we go overboard, we find ourselves back in debt (which lends to a scarcity consciousness). Thank you for the input Andre.

  14. Rus says:

I’m a good tipper. I always give 20% and appreciate the food, the service and the fact that I have money to spend. I do believe that it always comes back in some form when we are appreciative and give generously. You have to mean it though. I’ve over tipped before and then regretted it. So,I’m comfortable with 20% and am confident I can attract more money to me.

  15. Carol Anne says:

I’m really starting to see money as form of energy too. I’m generous to my employees and am proud to pay fairly and provide health insurance. It makes for a healthy business and attracts competent people that can take responsibility. Not only does my business attract more money but I am able to have more free time – which is very valuable to me.

  16. Kara says:

I have a tough time with this because I am on such a tight budget living in the city. I have learned to be thrifty and economical but I don’t think I am being cheap. I just have ZERO extra money to spend. I don’t even buy coffee now because thats an extra $10-$14 a week… and forget about Lattes.

  17. It’s never easy to challenge conventional wisdom, but that’s what conscious living is all about. I still sometimes have problems with saying that about money and my relationship with money still needs healing so thank you for this rob!

  18. For your articles or blog posts to produce results in sales and leads, you need to find that perfect balance between quality and quantity.

  19. I’m aware about this already, but nevertheless there have been a few helpful pieces which finished the picture to me, thanks!

  20. Heya i am for the 1st time here. I found this board and I come across It really useful & it helped me out much. I hope to give some thing back and aid others like you aided me.
