Life Mastery 101

July 11th, 2010 by rob white

panoz_1May I take you a bit deeper into the conversation of life mastery? I believe, by now, that you are seeing the principle by which your creative power flows – ‘if you are to produce results, you must take action!’

We are living in a physical realm of existence, and there is a reason for that – we are here to experience our superlatively creative ability. How do we do that? By actualizing our abstractions (this is my opinion).

What I mean by an abstraction… is an ethereal ideal that we want to make real. If you are to climb an ‘ideal’ up the rungs of the Doing Ladder (so that you may experience it as real)… you must have clarity-of-vision. You must be able to vividly imagine the outcome you are seeking. When it is clear – the action-steps become apparent to you.

Without taking action steps (climbing that vision up the rungs of the Doing ladder), there are no results. Without a clear vision of the outcome you seek – your action is ineffective. It all ties in wonderfully.

panoz_2You know when your vision is clear in your head because you can feel it in your heart… it’s a Felt-Vision! Without a Felt-Vision guiding the way the results will be unsatisfactory.

I imagined owning an exotic sports car. I researched exotic sports cars and found the perfect one for me. I cut the picture of the car out of a magazine and carried it with me. I looked at it at least 100 times each day. I took the necessary action-steps to actualize this abstraction only after I could feeeeel myself driving the car! The feeeeeling inspired me, and the right and perfect action-steps came to me. Walking this vision up the rungs of the Doing Ladder became a joyful adventure!

(1) What was once out of your reach… something that required a felt-vision to motivate you to take the action steps to achieve it?
(2) In what domain of your life are you failing to create the Felt-Vision that you need. In what domain of living are you failing to climb ‘the ideal that you want to make real’ up the rungs of the Doing Ladder?

panoz_3The domains in which we live (if you missed this last time … here they are again): mental… emotional… physical… spiritual… family… financial/ material… and… social. Right now I am working on more peace of mind in my daily living experiences. I consider this a combination of the… mental… spiritual… and… emotional domains.

I hope this blog helps you probe deeper into your own lives… blessings!

  1. Nice post Rob…

Vision is what divides the leaders and followers. He who has no vision fits into the vision of others. Sometimes consciously sometimes unconsciously. And that’s not the way I want to lead my life. We all want to grow and progress beyond measure, not passing from day to day…

I love your writing style Rob, with a clear point and strength…

    kind regards…

I love your addition to the blog, Marko – ‘he who has no vision fits into the vision of others’. Powerful, powerful addition … thank you. Indeed, when we do not exercise self-initiative, we find ourselves caught up in the initiative that others haven exercised (which usually means we are working to actualize someone else’s abstraction).

  3. Joe Wilner says:

    Rob,

I love the post. It really is life mastery 101. We must know what we want before we can attain it, and much of that is seeing the vision or image of the ideal situation in out minds eye. It takes much practice to really develop this ability, as it is difficult to see past are immediate environment. We must start to develop our ideal self and environment within, before we can see this manifest in the external world, and this takes much focus to see the truth that can be, and not what is currently presented to us.

    • rob says:

A couple of fabulous points you make, Joe: (1) It takes practice to create clarity of vision (repetition is key) (2)It is difficult to see beyond our present environment (we have to be willing to think the unthinkable). Thank you for those tips.

  4. Hey Rob, beautifully put. That feeling is really the activating mechanism by which things start to become a reality. I’ve never known a leader that’s ever made movements without stirring emotion in themselves and others.

    • rob says:

YES, YES, YES, Amit ……. E-motion is energy in motion … and without E-motion we are unable to actualize our ethereal abstractions so that they may manifest in our physical world. Stirring our emotions requires clarity of Vision – thus the Felt-Vision. I like how you think.

  5. Rob,

Lately you seemed to be writing posts that I am thinking of or trying to get better with. This is like secret wish come true!

The biggest problems with dream is that we may not know how to get it in step by step process. Creating a vision and step by step guide sure helps. Sometimes I fail to create a vision that is correct for that goal and things fall apart. Like you said MISS-takes and back to drawing board correcting until I get it right. Thank you for the inspiration, I needed to read this today.

    • rob says:

Thank you, Preeti … ask and ye shall receive. Apparently you are asking the right questions for improving your life, and I am coming up with the right answers. All minds mingle. YES, the first Miss-take that we all can make is not to take the time to be perfectly clear of the outcome we seek. Yesterday, I had a very clear vision of pizza for dinner. SO CLEAR THAT I COULD SMELL IT AND TASTE IT. Guess what I had for dinner? Creting Felt-Visions can be that simple; we do it all the time on little things. It’s time to up the amps and do it on things that are important to us.

  6. Dia says:

Very nice post Rob. It is very crucial that we see in our mind what we want to achieve. Like Napolean Hill said one time that the mind is like a workshop. Whatever you can see it, you can achieve it. Thanks for sharing Rob

    • rob says:

Tell me a little more about your life, Dia? how can we (me and the other commenters) help you with your breakthroughs? How is life challenging you? That is one thing that life will always do – especially with intelligent folks like you – evolution loves it when Dia breaks through to newness. I am glad you like that I share, Dia.

  7. Don says:

You are a great teacher for me, rob. I agree with Joe … This really is life mastery 101 that you offer. I also agree with Amit … this is beautifully put. Thanks for reinforcing what I keep forgetting.

  8. John Sherry says:

Rocking stuff this Rob. In my estimation this whole life is imagined. All of it. So what is one more car, home, dream job or situation? Mastering life is mastering that knowledge. A brilliant take on a popular topic put in your own inimitable style.

    • rob says:

Thanks, John … I believe that only when I am able to speak what I’ve learned in my own unique way … then, and only then, have I mastered the knowledge enoubh to climb it up the rungs of the Doing Ladder. When I speak new knowledge to myself in my own inimitable style – the subconscious level of my mind sits up and takes notice. I find that I need my ‘whole’mind (all levels of thinking), looking at the same conversation if I am to progress with my aspiration and aims. Anything less than my ‘whole’ mind working together, and I waver (like the waves of a stormy ocean).

  9. Rob, as usual your wisdom comes through loud and clear. We can be positive and meditate and visualize all we want but until we take action….nothing changes.

I like what Marko said as well. “He who has no vision fits into the vision of others.”

Well, I’ve been working on a number of areas…and I have a long way to go!

Thank you for this most insightful post.

    • rob says:

I like Your clarity about your self-work, and the way you report back on the insights the blog offers you, Angela. YES, there are two ladders we must climb to actualize our aspirations – the Thinking Ladder and the
doing Ladder. If we neglect one of the ladders, we find we topple back to where we begun. Blessings.

  10. mark says:

    Hey Rob,

I love the ideas here. Especially “Without a clear vision of the outcome you seek – your action is ineffective.”

You can plan all you want, if you don’t take action, then you have accomplished nothing but dreaming. And to your point, you can take action, but without a reason, you will only be performing a task with no ending.

Vision may be only the first step, but without the first step there is no second step.

    Thanks for the inspiration Rob!

    • rob says:

Indeed, Mark, even ancient script reminds us that ‘without vision – folks fail at what they intend to do’. A clear vision can be felt in the heart (thus the term ‘Felt-Vision’). Also, the subconscious thinks in terms of pictures, and so it is necessary to hand it clear vision of your intentions.

  11. Guru Talks says:

Rob, nice article … and this time too images were blend perfectly well with the story (I hardly see this thing anywhere):)

  12. rob says:

Thanks, Guru … I am seeking excellence with my blogs so that I may access more of my unrealized potential. We all have a bottomless reserve of ‘potential, unmanifested’, and the only way to manifest more and more of it is to seek excellence in all that we do. Nick does the images – good job, Nick!

  13. Jean Sarauer says:

Hmmm, I have to work on this. I was living a well-balanced life but have really fallen off the beam these last few days. I do know the right steps to take to get back on again, and your plan fits right in with that . . . I definitely need to get on the doing ladder of taking steps that bring me back into balance . . . a little less work, more nature time, etc. Good support here, as always!

    • rob says:

Taking the right steps, Jean, is always a matter of climbing the rungs of the doing ladder. Indeed, we will fall back and skin our shin on one of the rungs, now and again …. but how else are we going to learn to get back on track. Thank you for offering your personal input.

  14. Kim says:

    Hi Rob,

I like the way you involve your community to attain breakthroughs. I have the concept of this exercise down. Now, it is about execution, patience, and desired speed of positive manifestations that I’m working to actualize :)

    • rob says:

‘Desired speed of positive manifestations’ … that’s a mouthful that you’ve spoken, Kim. How does that work for you? Our greatest manifestation occur when we actualize our unrealized potential … when we dig deep inside and come up with new ways of approaching things … ways that increase our speed of progress. Is that what you are referring to? I love the way your mind works. Thank you.

      • Kim says:

Interesting take, Rob. Speed of manifestation can indeed increase when we find ‘new ways of approaching things.’ Sometimes we might implement a new project (i.e. a blog) and need to exercise a bit of consistency, a dash of patience, and a big dollop of time to allow its success to blossom ;)

  15. Martin says:

    Hi Rob,
Great pictures. A perfect example of visualising goals. I am a firm believer that the mind acts on what it can see.

    • rob says:

Hi Martin … indeed, the mind does act on what it can see … and that’s because the powerful level of the mind is the subconscious (where the emotions dwell) … and ‘it only thinks in pictures’ (not words). thanks your the addition to the blog.

  16. Hi Rob,

I can definitely attest to what you say. The law of attraction is real, from my personal experience and what I’ve witnessed with other successful people…it all starts from vision and consistently thinking about what we want in life that will provide the action steps in order to obtain it.

It’s much more than just action steps… if you believe in all that, that is :)

    Cheers!

    • rob says:

YES, as we believe, Parker Lee, we achieve. What we beleive we can clearly see in our mind’s eye. What the mind can vividly see, it pursues with a little help from its friend – the ‘electromagnetic force of harmonious attraction’ – one of the four interactive forces of this creative cosmos in which we live.

  17. Justin Dupre says:

    Rob,

Great article, thinking and doing must go together. Your wisdom and perspective did changed the way i look at vision. I really like “You know when your vision is clear in your head because you can feel it in your heart” Mind, body and soul. Our mind is much more powerful than we know it, it’s important to practice visualizing and make a good habit of finishing something you ought to do. I believe most people get caught up on the distraction and waste too much time on the wrong things causing them to surrender before reaching an end. Thanks for sharing such a deep meaningful post with us!

    • rob says:

I appreciate your gratitude, Justin. Most of us to get caught in distractions and discreate what we are in the process of creating. The mind is always creating … and erasing the partial creation if we do not exercise our power of will and keep it on track. How many times have I discreated something that I wanted to happen (that I’d partially created),because I allowed my mind to wander?

  18. 3 years ago we were ready to sell our home in MI and move to AZ our life long dream. As you know it’s not easy to sell your home these days and get a decent price.

We took a photo of the realtor’s sign in the front yard. We photoshopped a sold sign on it and put it on the fridge, we had a sign on our fireplace that said, “expect a miracle.” We kept the home filled with positive energy by refusing to be negative about anything and if we caught ourselves we stopped dead in our tracks. We established a deep connection with the realtor working with us and kept constant contact with her. I could go on but you get the picture! Sold and with a good price.

    • rob says:

Wow, now that is a gift to all of the readers of this blog site. I love your demonstration of creating a felt-vision and supporting it with action. Incredible! I have nothing to add to it because it is right on target. Thank you.

  19. Without action we are just….. ;)

    • rob says:

Yes, jonathanfigaro, without action we are just BEING … and we merged into physical form to take our ‘beingness’ to the ‘doingness’ stage (so that we may experience our beingness)! Thank you

  20. Farouk says:

i like the idea of hanging the picture of the car you want to own
that will definitely provide constant motivation for reaching the goal
    thanks Rob :)

    • rob says:

The subconscious level of the mind thinks only in pictures – and so it is important that we communicate with it in its language, Farouk. Blessings

  21. Billy says:

Another great post Rob! I really enjoy reading your posts. They are informative and cleverly written. Thanks for sharing.

  22. Rob, I’m sorry it took me so long to get over hear to read what I already knew would be an inspiring and educational post. What a fabulous technique to distance yourself from the constant mind chatter and negative self talk. I will definitely try it. Thank you.
Good luck on your book tour.
