Do you want to talk about walking or do you want to walk?

paint_1It seems that I have more problems when I decide to walk my talk than if I just sit around jabbering like a parrot. More action brings more challenges brings more problems. Why is that? THAT’S EVOLUTION!

The increase of problems makes it seem like I am going backwards, but that’s not true. The truth is that when I am actualizing my aspirations I am living in a world of continual error and my journey is COURSE CORRECTION. Every new action begins with error that needs correction.

To sail from point A to point B is a journey of a thousand zig-zags (all needing a correction). Reminding myself of this ‘zig-zag fact’ has me look at my errors with eager anticipation (a solution is right around the corner).

paint_2If action didn’t begin with error, there’d be nothing to learn. What’s the purpose of living if we are not constantly learning how to express our infinite nature in fresh and new ways?

All four of my successful restaurants began in debt. All of my real estate development projects had mistakes that I had to tweak and retake a thousand different ways before I could stand back and say: “By Jove I got it!”

I have a home on the Atlantic Ocean and one on the Pacific Ocean, and no matter which one I am at, there is always something that needs doing. That used to agitate me. Now it thrills me – I’m alive, still growing!

paint_3When I realized that I am never going to get it all done and I will never get it all done right – I was able to let go of any ‘poor me’ attitude that was gripping me to any degree. I could clearly see that if I am to put all of myself into life, then it will always be a COURSE CORRECT JOURNEY that I am on. Sweet victory!

Can you share a COURSE CORRECT experience that you’ve had? I will respond to your comments. Thank you.

Make the growth choice

monkey_driver_1Have you noticed, yet, that struggle and discomfort are your life-long companions? You will never be without them but you can dramatically diminish their affect on your experience of life. Have you also noticed, that on the other side of struggle (when you look at life from a growth-choice attitude) comes a deep sense of self-worth? Why? Because you find yourself winning at life in spite of what is happening to you.

It was a great discovery when I realized that the quality of my life is a consequence of my internal environment, not my external environment. It was equally as great a discovery to realize that my internal environment (ATTITUDE and MOOD) are a result of my internal self-talk. My attitude and mood are not a consequence of what happens to me! Wow, absorb that opinion and the world looks very different (much better!).

Now, here is the BIG ONE: I can examine what I am thinking while in the midst of thinking it. No other creature in the animal kingdom can do that. When I refer to me, I am referring to you, too. You and I can think about what we are thinking about. That’s huge. This unique ability to examine our thoughts while thinking those thoughts enables us to change our internal self-talk if it is not giving us an internal environment of joy and wonder.

monkey_driver_2.2Nothing makes us feel our personal power like taking control of our inward self-talk, and turning it around when it has my mood spiraling down. This power to control our self-talk allows us to control how we feel about what is happening to us. It’s the decisions we make about the events in our life that determine whether we learn from those events or burn from those events. This last statement is a great insight; please take a moment to read it again.

The fact that you can think about what you are thinking about (the fact that you can examine your thoughts while you are having them), enables you to train your mind to think differently if you do not like how you are currently feeling.

When I would get frustrated in traffic jams, I thought I had no other choice but to think ‘poor me’ in such situations. One day, while thinking ‘poor me’ – I decided to examine that thought and see what it was giving me. Other than giving me a dull headache, I realized it was accomplishing nothing. In fact – it was adding melodramatic suffering to the traffic jam experience (which only worsened the experience).

monkey_driver_3It is a great habit to examine your inward self-talk three or four times a day, and ask yourself: ‘what kind of mood are these thoughts giving me’? Can you afford to allow renegade inward self-talk to determine your moods for you?

If you persevere in studying your inward self-talk, you probably won’t like what you often hear, but the discoveries you make create space for you to create a much more harmonious internal environment. Your internal emotional environment has everything to do with your growth as a joyful, conscious being.

Can you think of a time when a change in your inward self-talk turned your mood around? How do you handle your inward self-talk when it is leading you down a dark alley? Do you have a favorite statement you make to yourself that puts your self-talk back on track? I love to remind myself that ‘I am wonderfully made and worthy of all that is good and beautiful.’

What’s Right with You?

right_with_you_1
How many times have you heard someone say, “What’s wrong with you?” when they catch you doing something wrong. Why is it, that we are not asked, “What’s right with you?” Why are so many mind’s trained to look for what’s wrong?

right_with_you_2Right now, might I take a moment to tell you a couple of things that I consider ‘right with you’ … (1) If you are reading this blog – then you are interested in self-advancement. That is right with you. (2) If you are a commenter on this blog site (or any blog site) – then you are interested in contributing to the betterment of others and are willing to go the extra mile to do so. That is very right with you. (3) If you make it a point to share the great knowledge you are seeking (for your own growth and development) with others – then you are lifting humanity up a notch. That is incredibly right with you.

right_with_you_3I hope you have taken the time to notice many of the things that are right with you. Do you take the time, daily, to pat yourself on the back about these things? Right now – what would you be willing to share with me (and others that read this weekly blog)? Will you leave a comment, telling us what is right with you?

Here is a couple of things that is right with me:

right_with_you_4(1) I always joyfully say “bless you” when someone sneezes (even someone in line at the post office). I love giving out blessings for free. It always gets a warm reception.

(2) When I give money to a homeless person and that person says ‘thank you’, I love to say, “I want to thank you for accepting this from me.” (it always ends up with eye contact and an exchange of warm smiles). I believe I get more out of it than the one I am giving to.

(3) When I am driving my car and someone honks at me … I nod, smile, and lip synch, “I’m sorry” … even if I do not have a clue what the honking is about. I love getting along rather than honking my horn!

right_with_you_5It is the little things that are right with me and you that add up to US being a contribution in life. YOU DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE – you know that about yourself (don’t you)? Again, consider taking a moment to share what is right with you – don’t feel embarrassed – it will help other readers of this blog to consider what is right with them. Now you are priming the ‘rightness pump’ for everyone. There you go – making a positive difference in life once again.

All Forms of Life are Levels of One Consciousness

plane_1From the lowliest earthworm up to the highest human intelligence – all share a single consciousness. Albert Einstein agreed with this opinion in one of his later essays. Being human gives us the gift of experiencing a higher level of consciousness than the rest of the animal kingdom, AND there are higher levels than what our human rational minds offer!

“If man was meant to fly, he would have been born with wings.” This was the cry of the newspapers when Orville and Wilbur Wright began working on their creation of a ‘heavier than air’ flying machine. They were looking at life from a higher level of consciousness than what the World Voice (the voice of the masses) was chanting; otherwise – we’d still be experiencing our air travel in hot air balloons.

plane_2There is nothing that you have to do with this knowledge (that there are higher levels of consciousness available to you); you simply need to open to it if it interests you. When you choose to open to higher levels of consciousness (BE OPEN MINDED), you allow infinite intelligence to operate through you. You are always sharing a consciousness with this One Intelligence that created this entire cosmos – what a wonderful and splendid thing it is to share a higher level.

When you open to higher consciousness, wonderful pearls of wisdom become apparent. Emerson spoke of beams of higher intelligence that would shine on his mind. Look at the wonderful works he produced because of opening to this.

plane_3What remarkable hidden talent would that higher consciousness awaken in you if you allowed its beams of higher intelligence to shine on your field of consciousness? What might you be? What would you do?

It is a position of impregnable strength to open to a consciousness above what your worldly senses allow you to see. I find remarkable things happening around me when I allow this to occur. For example; a few years back, I had the opportunity to meet and spend a couple of weeks with one of the world’s great philosophers simply because I intuitively delayed an air flight (no particular reason) and stayed a couple of extra days at my California home before returning to New England.

What does Infinite Intelligence have in store for you? Are you willing to explore a higher level of consciousness than what you currently experience when you jump out of bed in the morning, gulp your coffee and run off to work? What lofty dream would you dare to pursue if you knew there was a higher consciousness available to you?

I appreciate the input you folks offer with these weekly blogs. Your comments not only enhance my perspective on ‘all of it’, they also help the whole Mind Adventure community. I receive a lot of feedback from other community members who say they sometimes learn more from you folks (who leave comments) than they have learned from my blog. I love that!
