passive listening begets vain repetition

Prosperity 1I can remember years ago attending many seminars and reading many inspirational self-help books on how to improve my life, but it was all passive listening and reading. When I would be with my friends, I’d talk about what I’d heard or read (probably just to look good), but it was all vain repetition. I hadn’t put the knowledge into my life, and hence; it never amounted to anything – my life was the same old way it was before.

It doesn’t work to just obtain knowledge or join a self-help website without asking “how does this apply to me, and how can I put this into my daily life to help support me with my aspirations?” Have you read one or two (or three or four) great inspirational, self-help books, thinking it was going to change your life, and nothing changed?

The consciousness it takes to act upon the information you have heard or read is where the discipline begins. It is as important that the knowledge find an avenue to ‘outflow’ from you as it was to create an ‘inflow’ so that you may demonstrate it in your daily affairs.

There are two ladders to successful achievement – the thinking ladder and the doing ladder. If you are not climbing both of them simultaneously, you are doomed to fall back where you were. I neglected the Doing Ladder for years. Are you aware of both ladders with your growth-choice endeavors? How are you doing with those two ladders?

what’s going on with your personal story?

Noteman story 1Is it possible that my inner thought-habits are a consequence of the story I was told as a child, about who I am and what I can expect of life?

What if that story is fraught with impoverished thoughts, like “You’re ONLY HUMAN and “It’s a TOUGH WORLD out there”; then what can I expect my model of reality to hand me?

How about you; does the story you tell yourself about YOU and about LIFE support you with creating a richly promising future?

1. What’s the story you tell yourself about yourself – does it encourage you to take chances to create a brand new enriching future, or does it simply cope and try to sneak by?

2. Does your story have you achieving those dreams you yearn to experience?

I can remember times when I’ve failed, and I took that experience to me that I wasn’t as good as those who succeeded. Has that ever happened to you? When? Is it absolutely true?

Noteman Story 2
Since then, I have learned that we are all fabulous at many things; that is – if we are willing to go the extra mile and do whatever it takes to succeed. And since then – I’ve proven that. How about you? Do you remember an achievement where you startled yourself awake to your unlimited potential?

I’ve also learned that I have my own unique talents, as does everyone else; and if I am unwilling to take chances, I may not ever discover what those talents are. I believe that life will prod you toward your undiscovered talents if you allow it to, and if you are flexible, you will find fresh ways of honing new skills to reveal those talents that waiting to demonstrate through you. Do you believe that? If you don’t – what are you holding as true about you, that if you discovered it was not true, you could believe it? That’s a simple question; read it again, slowly, if it confuses you.

Noteman Story 3What do you think is absolutely untrue about you that if you decided it was true, would support you with living into the future you dream of living into? Give them some thought; it can be very revealing.

Take a few moments to ponder these questions. Perhaps you can leave a comment that will help others to see themselves and life differently. We all seem to agree that limitedness will be part of our experience; but I believe it is the illusory part of the ‘game of life’ that gives us the opportunity to enjoy breakthrough after breakthrough as we access more and more of the truth about our unlimited side. How does that sit with You?

high thinking is freeing

Noteman SurfingHave you ever noticed that when you are riding the high wave of a successful day you feel good about yourself. I sense that the journey actually is an INSIDE/OUTSIDE job; we really cannot ride the high wave of success out there in the world if we are having a difficult time dealing with a grumbling mood and salty attitude. It seems we can measure our outer success by measuring the degree of ‘wowsomeness’ we our experiencing with our inner attitude and mood.

The way I live is based on the way I am thinking, and no matter how hard I work at improving my life, if I participate in grumbling inward self-talk, I am guaranteed something will come along and destroy my efforts. Have you ever noticed that about you? When I make up my mind about what I’m up to and commit to making it happen, my attitude becomes one that collects irrefutable evidence to prove I can do it. I have learned that the ‘proof of the truth is in me’; that is if I intend to live my life differently.

Noteman Wipes OutHow do you act when your attitude and mood give you feedback that supports your new aspiration and aim – I find myself taking chances – do you? If my attitude and mood don’t support my new action, I look for reason to quit. Have you noticed doing that? I’ve learned over time that rather than look for reason to quit, it is wiser to work on reasons why it may be smarter to turn my attitude and mood around; which each and every one of us can do if we are willing to. Stubbornness can be such a mule!

We all create a model of reality that sits well with the attitudes and moods that accompany us through out day. Impoverished attitudes and moods offer a model of reality that is fraught with scarcity. How do we change this model so it better serves us? Work on the attitude – seek to see things differently; assign a new purpose to what you’re doing. Try it – it works!

011710_surf_3My opinions are not carved in stone, although sometimes they feel as though they are. When I find my reactions are not working for me, it is best I take a look at the opinions I am clinging to and insisting are true. Have you ever clung to a ‘Poor Me’ attitude and refused to let go? Considering yourself anything less than unlimited is a break from reality, and acting in ways to prove ‘Poor Me’ is the right attitude for you is insanity. I know; I’ve tried! Whenever I blame the world for my ills – I surely slam tight the door to my unrealized potential! Neurosis is taking on an attitude that I am incapable of riding the high wave of success, and then setting out to prove it is true.

breaking through to a new you

011010_couch_1One of the biggest fears of letting go of old habit patterns is that we will not be ourselves any more. The fear of extinction prevents us from seeing that the Habitual-Self must fade away in order to make room for a higher version of oneself.

When it comes to creating a ‘brand new you’, your work is to notice your fear of not existing at all if you let go of too much of the old you. One way to do this is to notice how family, friends, and neighbors will try to stop you if you begin changing too much, and that’s because they fear they won’t know how to relate to you.

011010_couch_2Here is what these people are doing: in order to cling to the old you so they feel comfortable, they make disgruntling remarks and call you phony when you begin behaving in dramatically new ways. They have no conscience in making you feel foolish if they feel uncomfortable with your new self-creation. They are like demanding musicians insisting that you dance to the music they play for you.

Take a look at all the people and things you have around you that support your staying the same, even if the current version of you is not working for you; then ask yourself, “Am I willing to change in spite of my resisting surroundings?” When the answer is a resounding ‘YES,” you have taken a giant step forward toward creating a New You!

contrast offers opportunity

Apple Tree of LifeThe world offers you a fabulous opportunity. Without the abundance of contrast that you find in the world, this rich physical realm of existence would not exist. But because it does exist as an environment of opposites, it offers you marvelous opportunities to experience relativity. What side of the stick are you relating to: sufficiency or insufficiency? The choice is entirely up to you.

When you relate to insufficiency, the idea of abundance feels illusory, and because it feels illusory, abundance becomes a fleeting experience.

When you are willing to relate to all that is enriching and beautiful in the world, you find it easy to attract benefits of every nature your way. The world always has been complete and always will be complete, for it exists in tune with the infinite.

Apple Tree of Life 2There is no one who misses the enriching sense of self-worthiness when he chooses to relate to the enriching side of this world. So how do you do that? It requires living in the everyday world, appreciating all that is sufficient and beautiful.

It is a lost person, indeed, who thinks he is here in physical form to simply survive and get by. There are no rewards to merely getting by. This thought-vibration serves as a shaky idol that will always lets you down. The worshipper of ‘merely getting by’ causes self-panic. There is absolutely no redeeming value to that.
