part of success is experiencing failure

Planet earth is one big two-ended stick where all pairs-of-opposites meet. Only when we learn how to work with these opposites do our lives unfold as we want them to.

There can be no experience of success without experiences of failure along the journey. The exhilarating feeling of victory requires temporary defeats along the way, or there is nothing exhilarating about it. If you succeeded at everything you try on the first try, the accomplishment would feel empty.

Failure is meant to motivate you to strengthen your resolve. It is meant to inspire you to reach deeper and access more of your unrealized potential. A person climbs the jagged mountain because he wants to experience more of his unrealized potential. That is what being human is all about. Without failure, your potential remains unrealized, and your life becomes boring.

A story can tell you of the sweetness of victory, but you cannot experience it for yourself until you have gone through the struggle and failure it takes to get there. What a glorious union of opposites –– failure followed by success! It elevates your consciousness above that of the conditioned rat that runs down the same tunnel looking for cheese. It offers an exhilarating feeling of triumph that has taken man from believing there is ‘a man in the moon’ to walking on the moon!

It is always easier to succeed at something new when you are willing to fail your way through. Failure does not handicap you, only you can do that. Babe Ruth held the record for most strike-outs and most home runs. Now that is a great example of failing your way to success.
